Easy Equities good or bad?

Hi All,

Can someone please explain to me how EE's share pricing works in relation to the actual live share price. I read earlier in this forum that their prices are delayed by 15mins? I also recall reading that their prices differed from the actual price?

Thanks!

The JSE charges extra for live data so stockbrokers delay prices by 15min to keep keep costs down for clients. If you are a day trader or somebody that needs 100% accurate prices you'll need to sign up on a more expensive and feature rich p!platform like OST. Live data is hardly worth it for the type of investor or "trader" EE is targeting.

Thanks! I've just made a trade on my demo account and next to the number of shares on my account overview page it says FSRs are these the fractional shares?

Not that I know of. If you find out do share.

Will do. I noticed that earlier in the forum people preferred MSN money over Google Finance for share price tracking. Is there a way to replicate your portfolio on MSN money incl no of shares owned, broker fees etc and then it outputs your growth rate?

Yes, but I gave up trying it's complicated.

Try the Bloomberg Markets app (and/or website http://www.bloomberg.com/markets/watchlist)
You can input all your trades and it'll track your gains to date as well as gains for the day. It'll also give you some fundamental data and when to expect earnings announcements etc, performance attribution, sector breakdown etc (and it's free)

+1 for Bloomberg. Although I use 22seven for the most part just to check the totals.

Hi All,
I have just read through the entire thread and have a few questions about EE after only discovering them tonight!

1) What are the withdrawal fees i.e. cash into my bank account? Are these charged at R100 / R150 per share and listed in their cost Profile document under Portfolio Transfers Out and Account Transfers Out or is that for transferring to another stock broker?
2) How long does this process usually take?
3) It seems that when you register for an account you are automatically given both a "normal" and a TFSA account, is this true? Is there a way to only have the standard account?]
4) I've been looking into buying ETFs / ETNs it seems that it would be cheaper to buy them on EE vs ETFsa due to the annual fees?
5) When I deposit money into EE does it go into a kind of a cash account before I log on and decide what to buy?
6) How long does it take from purchasing for the shares to reflect in your account?

Thanks in advance!

Not sure if you've been sorted out already but here's some additional interesting info

The JSE has rules forbidding brokers (like EE) from holding clients cash themselves, so they have to place your deposits into a JSE Trustees money market fund account in your name. So when you make a deposit you will pay the cash to your broker and they will take it and invest it into your JSE Trustees money market account. Then when you log onto the platform you will see you cash balance there along with any shares you own. The JSE Trustees fund will pay you interest on your cash balance. There is no requirement to use the cash to buy shares, in theory you could leave your cash in a brokerage account indefinitely.

When you trade a share, given that the trade has matched, it reflects in your account immediately (for example a bought share will appear and the cash will vanish). However, behind the scenes, JSE equity settlement takes 5 working days. It almost never happens but during this 5 days, if the JSE pick up some kind of error, they can reverse the trade (so you lose the share and get your money back, as if the trade never happened). For this reason, you cannot withdraw cash for 5 working days after selling a share (in case they need to reverse the trade). You can however use the cash to make more trades during the 5 days.

Do you manually have buy ETF's each month, no way of setting up a debit order on EE to automatically do this for you?

With regards to E.E :

1 How safe is the platform ?

2. when you buy shares can you buy the full share or platform is specifically made for fractional share's?

3. Do you have access to full list of stock's listed on JSE&Altx or you limited to top40 ?

Thank you

Considered reading the start of the thread? Also, have you considered going to the EE site and having a look? https://www.easyequities.co.za/Equity
