Easy Equities good or bad?

Just a question on another topic... Anyone here own Discovery in their EE portfolio? Did you receive the rights offer last month? All Discovery share holders were offered rights on buying shares at a cheaper price. Qty was dependent on your holding.

I'm just curious if these types of share instructions and options also filters through to EE investor accounts.

yup received the offer and took it - gained quite a few more shares at a bargain : D

I see Easy Equities realized their mistake and now charge 2.3% for credit card transactions instead of 0.23%

I wonder if I could setup an automated EFT and it would reflect in my account? Or do I need to make a transaction through the website first?

Seems there's also no way to create an account for my daughter as her guardian with the Tax Free account.

Because the account holder should be 16 years or older. Also, why use her TFSA for her? Let her fill it and build it up when she is old enough so she can learn how to save herself.

You can setup an automated payment on FNB so probably on other banks as well. You'll still need to go to EE and manually buy the shares though.

Because it's tax free and if I've maxed mine out I'd like to put it in hers.

She'll learn to save, don't you worry.

Yes I know that's the requirement. On SATRIX I can create an account as a guardian no problem I believe.

Yeah I don't mind actually going to buy the shares myself when I remember. I just want the preset amount of money to leave my bank account so I don't spend it on something else.

FYI, in that mail EE recommends you use EFT to keep costs down.
A quick calculation for 10K trade.

Easy equities 62.07
Standard bank OST 165.94
FNB share investor 105.57
FNB share builder 228

I'm assuming those are costs per trade? You should add R70 once of to OST for the monthly account fee and...

Thanks for pointing out. EE still seems cheapest. corrected my post.
Wait...we are comparing apples and oranges.

The above is transfer fees. Via EFT EE is mahala, OST has got some other fees I'm sure but didn't bother to look.

When it comes to account fees, EE is also free but OST and the like are R70pm

On a transaction EE will charge you 0.25% brokerage fee plus VAT etc. So on a R10k trade on EE you'll pay R25 for brokerage.

Can anyone share the cost of selling ETF on EE platform? I noticed its fixed at R250 with etfSA, which seems a bit steep...

R250 brokerage cost for selling would make them the most expensive in the country (unless you are working with a massive amount of money). You sure about that figure?

The R250 + VAT is the fee etfSA charges if you transfer securities out of their Securities Investment Plan to another Central Securities Depository Participant, e.g. EE.

I might be wrong with the interpretation of the terminology used, but this is a quote from page 8 of their application form:

A fixed Transfer Out Fee which is currently R250.00 (excluding VAT) shall be charged by the Administrator per security transferred out of the Plan

I dont see any other cost associated with the selling...

Transfer Out is when you move your holdings to another stockbroker (ie. You decide you want to use OST or IG instead of EE)

EDIT: Check the post above yours, same thing.

Does Easyequities TFSA account allow for monthly debit orders?

With capitec I just select a recurring date to send the money each month.

But you will still need to buy the individual ETF.

The recurring payment goes an lies in the virtual wallet
