new to investments, I want to invest R2000 every month in the stock market or eft or unit trusts. Whats the best way to do this ?
I am with standard bank and there is an option to open a Autoshare invest or Tax free investment, should I use that. What are my best options for long term investments
This is not financial advice. Don't listen to me, I barely graduated from university:
In general, you want to buy a "big and broad" ETF with low fees. What is big and broad enough depends on you.
S&P 500 (only has big US companies, but these ETFs often have the lowest fees)
MSCI World (big companies in developed markets like US, Europe, Japan & Australia)
S&P Global 1200 (big companies in developed markets and emerging markets like China & Brazil, but no SA stocks)
MSCI ACWI (big companies in developed and emerging markets, including SA)
FTSE Global (big and small companies in developed and emerging markets, including SA)
Since you're starting out, note that there is a difference between the index itself and the ETF. Think of the index as the GPU and the ETF as the graphics card. STXWDM is an ETF by Satrix, which tracks MSCI World. FNBEQF is an ETF by FNB, which tracks the S&P Global 1200.
