Easy Equities good or bad?

so ... spent a fair amount of my day exploring EasyEquities' platform, I've been using it for a while, but never from a RA/Pension fund perspective, what a damn ball-ache!!!

- the "invest now" filters don't show the exact same result as the EasyWealth compare filters for an RA account, there's overlap but both list entries that the other does not

- I assumed EasyEquities would be able to let you manage your own Reg 28 compliant asset allocation, but no sir, filters make that impossible, you can only invest in something that by itself is already compliant :cautious:

- assumed most money market funds would be available, nope, it is Satrix Money Market only, and it can't be bought from an RA or pension preservation account?!?

some of those are deal breakers, I have a chunk of change in an Allan Gray pension preservation fund, 100% in their money market fund

I'd gladly move all of that to EasyEquities to take advantage of their 1% cash back campaign, but they don't offer a money market fund to put it in, so I would also have to allocate those funds to an entirely different risk profile?!? WTAF?

Today I had to educate EasyEquities, which Unit Trusts they have, which are movable from my existing TFSA portfolio, to theirs ....

Grrrr, such little things make my blood boil !
btw, how did you get in touch with a human at EasyEquities?

I now have two open support tickets, one weeks old, one new but urgent. Literally no way to contact them at all, bot on the site and automated emails mostly in the inbox, wtf?

on the topic of unit trusts I simply asked them if they really only offer Satrix Money Market and none of the other well known money market funds ... that got "escalated" a week ago, still no answer to such a simple question

then yesterday afternoon units in my RA magically got sold out of nowhere, no explanation of why, just an automated sell with the money now sitting in the account, they also can't bother to answer that query and there is no phone number at all to call

I am trying to figure out - in the next 4 or so years - people are potentially going to start getting close to their life time limits. Where can we find that information on EE?

Ie how much have I deposited into my TSFA thus far.
I am in nr 11 year now, and I keep manually track. Are you talking life time, or only so far for the year ?

I usually just buzz them on Twitter. I also dropped a question, ZERO reply in 2 weeks. I moved my TFSA from another provider, as they couldnt answer me in 1 month. I hope really EE wakes up!

Life time,

I have been maxing it for 10 years, but I can't remember when they upped the annual limit from 30k to 36k - so I am not sure how much I have actually put in. It will be somewhere between 300 and 360k obviously but I want to see the official number.

Tagging Charles Savage on Twitter always gets results.

There is an option to pull a report with all your transactions.

Not at my MacBook now, don’t think you can get it on the App.

*****

Actually top-left on the hamburger menu second from the bottom “Transaction History”.

Portfolio > Menu top left > Transaction History.

Hmm seems there isn’t a full history option. At least not on the app which is annoying.

Year 10 : R 36 000

Doesn’t your SARS notice calculation also show it every year? I feel like I remember there being a lifetime contribution on there.

See I didn't even remember the 33k bump. I still want to see the "official" number, but thank you that helps.

on this topic... I think it's ludicrous that SARS have never revised/increased the lifetime R500k limit after 11yrs of inflation.

Serious missed opportunity by our government who are heavily burdened by social welfare costs.

Looking at ISA and ROTH accounts in other countries, SA is really far behind the curve.

You know how it is with this ANC government - any benefit like this is exploited by the "rich" so there is no motivation to do it. The same for taxes on cars, tax free withdrawal for your RA, capital gains limits, interest limits.

Its a total dog show.

Can look at Coronation perhaps. No platform fee like with AG sometimes when having non-AG funds, but only Coro funds, and most things are done online.

I'd just be keen to consolidate all my investments on one platform, if EasyEquities could simply pull finger they would be that one platform for me

but now I see worrying signs of honestly piss poor support, most of what I use is Satrix, but going direct with them still means EasyEquities in the background with SatrixNOW
