Easy Equities good or bad?

I have a few questions.

- Is my name on the share register of the company when I invest?
- Will I receive the Annual Financial Statements that the company usually sends each shareholder after year end?

Hi Byronjason

Yes your full shares reflect on the share register - you can confirm this with Computershare.
As a shareholder of any listed company they should send you financial statements. Purple Group, EasyEquities holding company send every shareholder their financial results.

Hope this helps.
Thanks

That when you are given R50 to buy Purple shares, buy R50's worth of DBXWD instead.

It was a useless buy, but free money so no real loss. Probably some sort of business strategy to get public buy in or something. They did it for Halloween last year.

Hi Guys,

Granted I am the brand manager for EasyEquities which falls under the Purple Group umbrella so I am sure my feedback to you may be biased.

When we issued the Purple shares (or rather cash) the PPE share price was around 41c. Share price as at today closed at 50c.
An increase of R9c per share.

Sounds like a pretty good investment to me?

Thoughts?
Regards

lets rather put it this way

FNB / satrix / STDB /momentum / Allan gray / discovery / absa / sygnia has never ever given me R50 with great marketing behind it.

neither has the above ever sent a custom branded gift via netflorist just because i am a loyal customer

and definitely, the above has never continually strived to be the cheapest with fee's ( on the contrary, most of the other guys actually hide away their fee's very diligently - returns reported is usually given with a small side note "*doesnt include fee's". i mean really wtf -an investment company reporting returns without knowing their own fee's????

EE - you win my vote just by being open about what the costs is currently and will be in the future. I actually noticed that they have rather decided to take a knock by opening TFSA accounts - just to give us a tool to invest in the future.

Hi Guys,

Clarifying here:

All full shares are held in your name - you can check this out by asking computershare to check the share register.
Fractional shares - we issue you with a CFD contract. When you eventually add to the fraction and you then own a full share, the share is then transferred to your name and placed on the share register.

Hope this clarifies?

Thanks

Hi Guys

I figured you all may want some additional data on this topic so here goes:

How do I know that my shares are registered under my name at the JSE:

All whole shares are purchased via First World Trader Nominees (Pty) Ltd (“FWTN”) (An FSB and STRATE approved Nominee Company) where you are listed on an asset register as the beneficial owner of the shares. The only way for you to confirm that you are the beneficial owner is to contact our appointed Clearing Settlement & Depository Participant (“CSDP”) Computershare Ltd where you can call Nubeen Akoojee on 011 370 5134. Another way to confirm your ownership is to call the company secretary of the company that you are a shareholder in and request confirmation that you are on the register.

Confirmation that if First World Trader goes insolvent my monies is protected under my name & not that of First World Trader:

Even though FWTN is owned by our parent company First World Trader (Pty) Ltd trading as GT247.com (“FWT”), Nominee companies are legal structures that are bankruptcy remote, may only hold assets on behalf of clients and may never incur liabilities. Nominee structures are well understood by liquidation lawyers and business rescue practitioners and it is not possible in SA law to attach clients asset held in a Nominee structure in a bankruptcy event.

Confirmation that First World Trader is regulated by FSB?:

You can confirm FWTN’s status as a nominee at the following URL - https://www.fsb.co.za/Departments/fais/supervision/Pages/listOfApprovedNomineesCompanies.aspx
You can confirm that FWT is a registered financial services provider by inserting our FSP number (22588) at the following URL - https://www.fsb.co.za/Departments/fais/searches/Pages/providers.aspx

Hope this helps!
Thanks

Sorry Neo. Stick with us right :)

You damn right I will.
You never know when PPE could pull a Capitec, so I'm in it for the long haul. I was actually thinking of making a monthly contribution after I've increased my regular holdings from this month:

On a side note, Romi, are we allowed to sell some of the shares/holdings within our TFSA's without affecting our R30k investment limit?

Hey YingYang

Ok so with a TFSA account you can buy/sell shares within the account without any implications at all. You only need to be concerned about not depositing over R30k (which EE will restrict) and then withdrawing actual funds from that account.

So buy and sell as you deem fit.

Hope that helps!

Also, remember, if you took part in the trial and deposited R250 into your account, they doubled it.

Just wanted to give a huge thank you to Romi for the feedback he's given us. It has been really helpful.

EE is one of the few companies to go out of their way to help customers.

I've only joined EE recently, thus I've missed out on these awesome deals. Hopefully there's more in the future now that I'm a member.

Its only a pleasure guys!

I am always here to help. I am an investor myself after-all so in the same boat as you!
Have a good evening everyone.

And yes we have some really cool deals coming up. Watch this space!

Any idea where to view the price at which I bought a certain share at without searching through my mails.

Maybe I am just not looking properly.. :)

transaction history is still a bit of a mess, but i suspect they are tackling it behind the scenes.

best source i can recommend :

* my acccount
* reports
* transaction history (open the pull down)
* scroll down, and click on google finance. this will produce a CSV that should be readable.

my only issue is that the CSV gives errors when importing into google finance - but this is a google finance issue (mostly related to multiple transactions (buying/selling/buying) on a single day.

Oh hey! This thread is so cool! EE is the ****! FFS people

Yeah, that is quite messy. Maybe Romi can provide us with what they have planned.

Wealth Manager Warren Ingram investigated EasyEquities, he gives a report on 702's Money Show tonight.
