Easy Equities good or bad?

Hi Guys

I was wondering whether anyone could help me.
I have been using EE for a while now, and I absolutely love it.
I am moving to Europe in a year and a half, and I was wondering whether any of you know of an Easy Equities equivalent in Europe of the UK.
I am planning on systematically moving some of my savings over, so I will have a euro or pound portfolio when I get there, and also so I can start getting to know the companies on their stock exchanges.
I have been looking around, trying to find something, but I am rather new at this and I dont always understand their fee systems.
The only online brokers I can find, which I think would be similar to Easy Equities, seem to be very expensive to me, ie. 4euro per transaction, and seeing as I will only be able to invest a few hundred, or maybe thousand Rand per month, this doesnt seem viable to me.

Sorry if this should be a thread of its own, but I literally read every page of this thread in the last 2 days, and I believe that you guys would probably know how to help me better than anyone.

Thanx in advance

Not exactly like EE (no FSRs), but have a look if Vanguard is available in your new country.

AFAIK they are available in the UK.

If I had a choice, I'd choose them every day of the week.

It still seems like they have a 7$ commission on each trade when buying stocks.
Is this flat fee commission strategy pretty much the norm abroad?
I was hoping for something with a low percentage based fee system like EE.

PS, and "FSRs"? Sorry Im a bit of a newbie.

FSR will be fractional shares.

maybe take a read through MMM's posts about investing :

latest one seems to be

http://www.mrmoneymustache.com/betterment-vs-vanguard/

maybe join the forums there, and see if any EU people can recommend a cheaper investment platform?

Thanx Neo

Im not really that bothered about the fractional shares thing, I can adapt the usage of my disposable income and savings if I need/want to buy into a very expensive stock.

The other option I am considering is going with a broker that supports something like Metatrader4, and then basically paying the spread as a commission fee.
Im not entirely familiar with that whole system yet, do any of you have any experience with something like that, any pitfalls that I need to look out for perhaps?
What is the general consensus regarding the use of a platform like that for long term investing rather than short term trading?

Thanx again guys

Hi guys, I am new to easy equities and want to know why the tfsa side of things doesn't have as much investment companies?

Wanted to invest in Reits. Not so clued up with the rules of a tfsa account besides the 30k a year side.

It is a limit set by National Treasury.

Sorry I'm not referring to the limit, but I'm referring to variety of stock options. It seems to be only etfs.

I meant the limit on availability of stocks.

From the EE site:

You’re allowed to invest in certain Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) that are classified as Collective Investment Schemes. There are currently 37 approved ETFs and more are being added to the list monthly.

Hi skinndeep,

Government created the TFSA vehicle as a means to encourage individuals to save for and / or invest for their future / retirement.

As they want to ensure every possibility of savers / investors being able to achieve this, they decided to limit the risk involved to lower-risk investments and as such have specified particular instruments that they will allow investment in.

So you'll see that in our TFSA account, you cannot invest in pure shares / equities with a particular company, but can only invest in an assortment of approx. 37 different Exchange-traded Funds (ETF's) which govt. are happy fit a suitable risk profile and that they're therefore a safer option for Investors to invest in

Quick question:

If I take my current account value and add my p/l after costs, should that equal the total amount ever deposited into the account, which in this example would be R201061.66 ???

Please refer to pic below for amounts

It's on current holding only

if you bought and sold before, it is not included. Read the note at the bottom.

1 Total Profit/(Loss) on current holdings

Yup, thanks, figured it out myself eventually.

Bit sad that it doesn't show your total "contribution" in deposits, as that would give a better perspective on how you are doing.

Doesn't help much knowing your "holding value" when you don't know how much you have spent getting there right?
