Easy Equities good or bad?

According to EE, my shares are worth more than R17 000 000 today. Obviously some massive bug in the software regarding Mediclinic. Like 30 000% gain in one day...about time I get some gainz in this market :)

Snap Lol, its because the buyout, suspended trading after the options. Sure it goes back to normal shortly. I'm regretting not exercising my options there :(

Profit/(Loss) % 233394.31%

Uncanny, I was also going to buy Oakbay and saw the same

Even worse this morning...

...but note the warning

You have reached the maximum amount that you can invest in this equity online. This limit is put in place to protect you from having too much exposure in equities that may be more difficult to sell (illiquid) in comparison to those that are easily traded (liquid). However should you want to invest further in this equity please contact our Trading Desk on +27 (0)87 940 6102 between 09:05am - 16:40pm Monday to Friday (business days) for assistance.

And look here on ShareNet - same thing

orl sharenet.png

They have a volume of 135 shares being traded. Lost 75% of their value in a day or two. Some guy is sitting with shares willing to sell them for this ridiculous amount. My guess is on high volumes the prices average out.

EasyEquities is actually doing you guys a favour as far as I can see.

This is normal with extremely low volume shares, the price will only adjust after a few days.

This has turned off topic. The issue isn't wildly fluctuating share prices, which is normal for low volume shares, but EE not having the correct share prices as well as not sending communication.

Do you see that the EE and ShareNet screenshots are showing the same prices?

I had an "interesting" experience this morning - posting it here to maybe give someone else a pre-warning.

Having risked some money into gold the past few weeks, the last few days of bad performance and also the news on the downgrading of anglo gold, my first task this morning at 9:05am was to sell all my shares in Anglo gold, Sibanye, Harmony and Goldfields.

I did one sell page at a time, diligently verifying that the "You are selling at the bid : Rxx,xx" was still close to the previous day close - in most cases this was displayed as very similar - maybe 30 to 40c difference"
I thus clicked on sell. After finishing my transactions, i was surprised to see my current available funds to be less than what i calculated it should be (about 4% lower).

I assume what happened was delayed pricing, and thus EE selling the actual shares a much lower value - looking at online pricing some of the shares didn't even reach this value in the past hour.

I will try to report this to them to see their response, but i am sure they will have it covered as per their note next to a sell transaction :

Prices quoted are delayed. Trades are executed at the live price on the underlying exchange at the time your order is received, as a result the price that you invest at may differ from the price displayed. Further to this you are investing at the Bid Price which is the price at which buyers are currently prepared to buy. The difference between all three prices quoted is an indication of the current interest investors have in this share. The bigger the difference between the prices, the smaller the interest/liquidity in the share i.e. there are limited buyers and sellers of this share. Investors should be cautious when buying or selling shares with lower liquidity.

school fee's? -Probably, but it certainly makes me very scared on doing trades with them..

Maybe the highest bid price was 17150 for ANG but there wasn't 665 shares on the bid available at that price, so you got a partial fill at 17150 and the rest was filled below that.

Edit: Could also be that the 17150 quote was the last traded price and not the actual bid at the time.

There's three prices. The last traded price is what your shares are worth. The buy price is usually the same or higher but the sell price is usually much less to ensure shares can be sold. 40c can make for quite a large percentage difference on some stocks.

understood, but in my case the visible difference was 40cents which i accepted. once the order went through and the invoice was generated, actual differences was 129 cents , 495 cents, 202 cents and 106 cents respectively.

shares did however drop from the start according to other sources:
