Easy Equities good or bad?

These of you using Google fiance and Bloomberg, is there a way to set up alerts for when Share prices reach a certain point?

I just want an alert when Sasol dips belowe 39 900, I think below that would be a good purchase.

Been hunting for a way for that as well. Internationally you can but all local services are pay.

Thats is what I also picked up... Damn that is the only thing I need then EE is a winner

That is why you pay so much for OST etc. They add all these nice features for you.

Makes sense, the alerts is the only thing I miss from PSG, but all in all EE is a winner.

Do you guys think EE will still be around in 20 years?

And on that note, what EXACTLY would happen should they go bankrupt?
Ah yes . But it is a sister company of gt247 which is owned by Purple group (jse listed). They also say your assets are ring fenced. But to me I do not like the idea that I am not the true owner of the securities. It kind of defeat the purpose of ownership through shares. Just my feeling at this point. I still give them an applause for making it easier for the average Joe to get into equities though.

BTW, It seems EE is more making use of CFDs if I read Mike Brown's interview right on a personal finance site. Will post the link a little later, just need to find it again.

Damn, sasol seems to climb lekker today.

My best performers over the last two months is AdaptIT(ADI), Capitec(CPI), EOH Holdings(EOH), Medclinic(MDC) and One Logix(OLG) - over 20% gain on those.
But yes quite a slep to determine this - have to manually track portfolio in excel. willl try google finance as well, but think excel is a better bet (its possible to phone EE/ GT24.7 to get accounts sent through in CSV format)

You can export your google finance portfolio and transactions to excel as well but obviously lose the trade price tracking.

I saw a exel sheet somewhere that actually pulls the share price in using msn finance.

A member posted it here somewhere. I think it was in that the proof is in the pudding thread

I have created my own little Excel spreadsheet that consists of my entire portfolio of shares and ETF's. I have listed the cost I bought it at, the current price and the % growth.

Although it is a bit of a mission to update it, I personally enjoy checking the prices and seeing how my portfolio has moved.

Sure I will edit something that you could use. Keep n mind that it is a personal preference and set up to my personal needs, so you may need t make changes.

Totally understand. Would really appreciate it a lot !

So Thor, and for all of those interested in tracking their portfolio, this is my setup. I have created a little demo for you to freely download and modify to your own investment portfolio.

At the top of the spreadsheet is the costs of the entire account vs the current value of the account, with the percent the entire account has grown.
(It does say DIV, but once you input your values the percentage signs should appear)

The blocks in yellow is my current goal towards what my portfolio should consist of, you of course can change that towards your liking. Underneath those blocks (if you put your values in correctly), will be your current percentage of portfolio split between Shares, UT and savings.

There's also a nice portfolio goal where you put in the amount you would like to reach by the end of the year, and it will tell you how much more your portfolio needs before you reach that.

A quick look into what it looks like.

On the next page there is a place where you can keep track of how much your portfolio has grown in the month. You obviously need to just keep track of how much the percentage was the month before and do some basic maths to workout the percentage growth/loss.

I actually went the other way today, where i saved my current Excel tracker as CSV, and imported it to a google finance portfolio.
Nice part is that i can see immediate growth/changes on each share/symbol, and a graph showing portfolio growth. Comparing to STXIND - if i can run above that i am happy :P

for an overall Account manager, give 22seven a try. I added all my loans(car + home), accounts, and my EE portfolio value. Gives me a nice net-worth figure which i can chase.
