Hi, I'm new to investing with Easy Equities and with like to purchase some low costing shares that should do well in the next few years or for the future

Can you guys recommend me anything that I should buy?

Which will gradually rise over time?

[I do understand the risks etc taken]
Let the discussions begin

My advise would be, buy international funds (nothing local), and its long term. Also read up about the pricing you buy at (that is how EE makes money "I think")

And I would play with the "DEMO" side ... to get the look and feel. I played with my DEMO app for 18 months, learning the in's and out's. Its a good starting point

Shares in SA is a dead loss. I'm in the red for over two years. Go for international ETF's. Soon as EE is back online i'll tell you what.

Issue is I'm setting up a monthly debit order don't think you can do it for not local?

Vanguard Total Stock ETF (look under the US shares portion of EE. Ticker code is VTI). I could give you individual share recommendations (I'm up 11% in 4 months), but if you get heart palpitations and don't have hours each week to dedicate to read about stocks, then an ETF would be best.

1. No one can beat the market, so don't try and cherry pick shares.

2. Regulation 28 insists that you invest the largest portion of your retirement savings in local equities, as such, take your discretionary savings offshore.

3. Buy an ETF - choose one you are comfortable with and stick with that one - some good ones already mentioned above. Ones I'd consider in your position:

VTI
ASHGEQ
SYGWD
STXWDM
SYG4IR

Is double posting of EFT's normal, and then reversing it ? I saw it earlier today

Glad they reversed the issue/bug

If I buy US (nasdaq) stocks in easyeqties and they go under tomorrow, what happens to my US stocks, how do I get access?

I assume you mean if EE goes under. The shares are in your name, so I assume there would be a process to have those shares moved to a different broker. You can't lose them.

I'm sure it would be the same as your other stocks
All Whole Securities bought and Cash not yet invested by Clients on the EasyEquities Platform are protected in an Insolvency Event, because all Whole Securities and uninvested Cash are segregated (i.e. kept separate) from the assets of First World Trader (Pty) Ltd (“FWT”), the company that operates the EasyEquities Platform.

Hello guys. Just a question. The below ... is that the increase for the day or the month or since inception? Ja ja ja...Don't tease me about my balances...I just put money from my recycling in there lol.

Its the total growth in portfolios based on what you paid for everything.

i.e. if you start with 100, invest 50 and it grows to 60, then EE will show profit of 10 and total value 110.

if you start with 100, invest 50, sell at 75 and buy something else for 75 that grows to 85, then EE will still show a profit of 10 and total value of 135... so its a bit weird.

The problem is how to prove your ownership of the shares if EE folds.
