Hi everyone, I’m posting this hoping someone here is able to assist me as I’m pulling my hair out in stress.

I signed up and registered everything necessary to get started with EE and begin depositing funds. I went with their instant EFT option to deposit R50k and begin my investment journey with them, according to them “when using this payment method, funds should immediately reflect in your easy equities account”

well that’s not been the case, the funds left my bank account successfully yet it’s been 3 days and my EE account Balance is still R0

they do not respond to my support tickets, they do not respond to my Facebook messages, they do not answer their phone line. I’m totally in distress and don’t know what to do here.

looking at their hello Peter reviews doesn’t help my anxiety:

initially I should have done my research before hand, but they seemed so legit and I’ve heard them give promising interviews on 702 on a few occasions and they just seemed reputable and trustworthy but this has not been the experience for me at all.

If anyone here can assist me I would greatly appreciate it!

EE haven't scammed you, they're a legit broker. All I can think is that you've tried contacting them over the weekend and hence no response. They will sort you out today.

Did you EFT to the same bank as your bank? And are you sure you used the correct reference code?

Assuming you used the correct reference number in the transaction, it may be that you still need to provide them with evidence where the money comes from.

I wouldn't worry too much I've also had a deposit not reflect for like a week and turns out it was a wrong reference number I could have sworn that I put in the right one but turns out it wasn't their support can also take quite a while so that's nothing new just go and double check all your details and try and take a breath they will get back to you eventually

Your money is safe. EE is not a fly-by-night operation.

That said, make sure you actually deposited it into the right account and used the correct reference.

Their auto-recon works after hours too, based on personal experience. You should get an email whenever deposited funds are cleared.

Like Hamster said, you might need to furnish them with additional information. Maybe you still need to FICA?

When exactly did you do the EFT ? And from which bank to which bank ?

Like Speeder is saying, if its over a weekend, no processing are done at all.

Its important to use the CORRECT banking details (to curb delays at a minimum).

When I do EFT's, it shows within 5 min on the other side, using FNB to FNB

What about the possibility that it's to not to the same bank, was done late on Friday afternoon and as such wouldn't reflect the following day (Saturday)? I think the longest I've had to wait for it to reflect is a day and that's from a Nedbank account.

Sometimes instant eft payments fail, many of mine failed to binance for example check if it was successful or not

One hit wonder alert! Anyway...

I never use Hellopeter as a benchmark for reliability / legitimacy. People are more likely to complain there rather than give positive feedback.

EE are not perfect, but they will sort you out. They are also pretty active on twitter, so you might have better luck there.

Turns out you guys were right, someone just got back to me advising me they’ve credited my account manually. I just don’t understand why they said it reflects instantly. There is no reference numbers involved, I login to my bank account through their payment processor (Payfast) select my account and the payment is made on the spot.

But thank you everyone for your help!

Now that you have R50K in EE, in what will you invest ?

Just FYI, had my girl sign up with EE. Made her first deposit yesterday (Sunday), money in her EE account in about one hour. Absa - Absa.

Might be a good idea to change the title of this topic, as there was no scamming.

Yep - I have worked with EE behind the scenes with a partner company - even ans insurance company with blue hands holding balls does business with them. so dont think you were scammed which as you have come to realise :) glad as that sinking feeling you get aint good. almost got scammed for laptop today.

I have been with them for about 6 years, they are not scammers. I deposited R150k last night and it cleared within 30 minutes. Your probably did something wrong, stop panicking and let it take it's course.

When researching these, my first question is always if the company has a FSP reg. no.

If they do, it is a good sign that they are legit and even if something goes wrong, you will have some recourse in law.
