eBay Wii...I've started...

NICE!!!! Well done....yeah it seems like you can pick up one for just under $400 now...well done mate...

Whats the seller's Id?

You also say that you will insist on an Ebay invoice....is htis how you do teh whole Paypal buyer protection thing?

Well I'm not sure about the whole buyer protection thing if the eBay invoice actually works better.

I just feel more comfortable with having the invoice and only paying afterwards.

In the past, if I never received a DVD or whatever I ordered from eBay. I usually file a dispute with eBay and PayPal. Out of the three time that has happened, PayPal have refunded me my money. I hope it works for large sums like over $400. Will go read up on PayPal now, just to make sure.

I also mailed him asking him for his phone number, so that I can call him and make sure he's a real person. LOL - Also where his address is supposed to be if people want to send him a money order, he just puts his name (all in lower case), which I can't pronounce, and his city - Jamaica, New York, so I'm a little wary of that too. Including the fact that it sold for under $400, as a lot of the other auctions were going for around $500 to $600.

I NEED TO MAKE ABSOLUTELY SURE!!!!

Just to update everyone on the Wii situation:-

I've paid for the item and the seller shipped it this morning. I am taking a HUGE leap of faith here. I never phone the seller, but I do have his e-mail address and website. I've checked his feedback and it looks like another guy who won a Wii from him has already received his Wii and they have bought left positive feedback for each other.

Estimated arrival date between 4 January and 12 January. It usually takes about 2 weeks for stuff to arrive via AirMail, but knowing the postal system at this time of year, I've given it an extra week.

I'll keep my eye on the seller, and make sure he doesn't disappear on me. I was bidding on another seller and got a message from eBay telling me the auction has become null and void. And another guy I also bid on has de-registered from eBay. Luckily I never won either of those two items.

So I'm holding thumbs for this one. Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones.

:L:

It might take a little longer than that for your stuff to arrive. I fnid that this this time of year the American postal service goes....well....postal.....everyeone shops online so there is a ton of stuff flying aroudn all over the states....usually adds a couple of days

just a little tip on feedback.

although someone with 100% feedback is considered trustworthy, it is better to see what the feedback was for.
drill down into the feedback and see what that person has bought and sold. if there are a large number of zero/low value items, then stay away. it is very easy for two accounts to do buy-it-now fake auctions for very low value items and bounce off each other...each account gaining positive feedback.

so see what he has bought/sold and who from...is similar names keep propping up and the value was all low, and now suddenly a high value items pops up then there is something fishy going on.

the reason low value items are a red flag is because of ebay seller fees. if a high value item is sold then the seller has to pay ebay more, so the scammers tend to use very low value items to gain feedback..to avoid ebay seller fees.

john and bob are both scammer/perhaps even the same person...john puts up an auction for a piece of lint, 1c buy it now...bob buys it, leaves feedback..then bob auctions the lint and john buys it...etc.etc.etc

Yeah, I completely understand.

Well from what I saw, the seller has been a seller since 2002, and has sold a bunch of items to different sellers. Even to power seller with over 12 000 feedback.

When ever I buy something off eBay I always check the feedback to see what it's like. If there has been negative feedback left in the past 6 months, I leave it. And I also see what kind of negative feedback was left. Like if it's "never received item" a few times, then I also tend to stay away.

Mmmmm..here is a message I just got from Ebay:

Dear xxxxxxxx

The listing in which you were a bidding participant:

110069639906 - Brand new Nintendo Wii w/ 5 GREAT SPORT GAMES

has been ended by eBay. Since the listing was ended by eBay, the transaction itself is null and void.

Due to privacy concerns, we cannot disclose the exact reason the listing itself was ended.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you, and we thank you for being a part of the eBay trading community.

WELL...no reason given but I suspect that we all know why. This guy didnt have that much of a rating. The auction closed a few days ago now and closed at about $480. So it would seem that there are a few scammers out there..be careful in your bidding guys and nuyork, I ma pretty sure that frmo the sounds of it your seller is okay....especially with that kinda rating

Who was the user? I also got that mail as well for something I was bidding for.

Yeah...

The lowest I've seen a Wii go for at the moment is $360. But I'm not watching anymore now.

I got this email after I'd paid for my Wii and the guy got kicked from eBay, I received it a week later :) Not always a bad thing, I think eBay are just extra cautious with Wii and PS3 sales. He's now back on eBay.

@nuyork if you have a tracking number (you should) just keep track of it and as soon as it leaves the US check with EMS here whats the deal, mine got stuck for an extra week cause they couldn't find my address in the map book
PM If you need their details, I have them around somewhere....

And you gonna love this thing :D

$430...ehehehehe...I now know what they mean by impulsive buy.....I bid $350 thinking thats what I was prepared to pay....got outbid to like $390..thought you know what....$400 is only a little more than what I am prepaed to pay so what the hey....one minute left got outbid to $420 and thought for a few seconds and bid on an impulse....bid $430 and was high bidder with like 30 seconds to go....thought "Oh no, thats way to much, but no worries will prob get outbid" clicked refresh and lo n behold...I was the winner....but am happy.....will now make arrangements to have it shipped the fastest way possible.....have some dude get on a plane and sit iwth teh thing on his lap....jump off the plane, hire a car and bring it to me where-ever i am....

That's EXACTLY what happens on eBay with me as well.

You get outbid and you think, ag, it's just another $10. And then another $10 and then another $10. LOL!!

Next thing the bid has ended and you've way over what you were willing to spend in the first place!! haha

Glad you got your Wii. Let's hope both of our Wii's arrive.

The guy I bought it from is still on eBay, so he hasn't been kicked off or anything. I'll mail him now just to ask for a tracking number.

:L:

I just forked out a total of $513 dollars for my Wii..I hope that this dude is ligit.....I will admit that I am now as worried as ****/.....

@nutork...did u get an tracking number...how was yours sent...usps or UPS?

I think if you use usps it ultimately ends up in the hands of the SA post office, not recommended!

Hey Natas,

Ask the guy for proof of delivery. I asked my seller to scan me in a copy of the customs forms and postal receipt. Which I received and everything looks ligit. Was sent via AirMail on 21-Dec-06.

Plus make sure he is still around. If he cancels his eBay account, then file a request for refund from PayPal and eBay.

How did you pay? Via PayPal? As they have seller protection.

By the way, who was the seller you bought from? Or what is your buyer's name on eBay?

:L:

Seller is espskate92 ..have bought tons of stuff on Ebay but never anything of this value. Have started looking at stuff and have gotten suspicious...I paid using the dudes online paypal payment thingy. He then emailed back saying I was supposed to send to another paypal account. I cancelled payment, everything fine.....waiting for money to get refunded. but now he wants me to send payment to an email address linked to an ebay account which is absed in a different state.,....just seems strange to me....seller has also offered me some other stuff directly....classic controller for $15 and a copy of Zelda for $45....both of these are slightly below RRP which strikes me as strange. Could be a case of he htinks he has roped in a fish and scored $500 and now all he has to do is extract a few more dollars....very suspicious.....

Don't change the payment options!!!

Ebay customer protection will probably not protect you if you pay to a different account to the one specified in the auction!!!

So what's the outcome Natas?

Did you pay for the Wii or not? Cancel your payment? Anything like that?

:L:

Next week Thursday, I "might" have my Wii!!!
