ECU damage, what can cause it?

Hi Guys,

so for those of you who dont know, my POS picanto and its ECU thats made out of F***** cheese has failed again.

its been checked by 10 different guys, including Kia HQ in Edenvale, and 10 other auto electricians,
last time I replaced the ECU at great expense, worked for a time and then blew once again.
changed it, and then now, after seeing it only working in the afternoons.
(cranks but will not start)

now the verdict has come, ecu BLOWN AGAIN.

what can cause this? bad design? electrical faults?
or is it something more sinister? like some algorithm that only lets the engine run for X amount of hours?
does that thing need an ecu?

Didn't you buy 2 second hand ones last time? not a new one

brought 2 USED ECU's with the POS, worked for a while drove perfectly and everything,
a few weeks ago, around beginning of November, cranks but not starting, light for check engine and immobilizer DID come on this time.

(last time they didnt come on)

initially suspected fuel pump, then suspected fuses/relays, then suspected air filter or throttle body,
as if you spray a can of doom or AXE deodorant into the air filter while you crank it eventually starts.

now was at another specialist, tried 15 different things, eventually gave up, gave it to another specialist, said ECU gone again.

hmm. If you were west I'd suggest you try Arnold motors. They know their stuff, sounds like your specialists don't.

Have you tried this?

car was at arnold motors for its service, changed cambelt, recently about 3-4 months ago.
car was even at kia motors HQ in Edenvale where they coudnt fix it.

right now its with autolek-spec in primrose, where kia HQ sends cars with electrical issues to.

even visited a ECU specialist , auto-ECU in primrose to try and check this fault,
damm thing is glued together like a POS made out of cheese,

even they cant help me with all the parts I need to fix this.

Does it work with other deodorants or bug sprays?

This is again very specific, like that guy who had the seven second issue.

I can't tell if you're taking the piss when talking about axe and doom or not

being 100% serious, if you stand outside the car and spray doom or AXE into the air filter (throttle body) WHILE you crank, it starts...
so to answer pinballs question, it starts a bit faster if you use AXE musk vs AXE regular, but doom works best.
