GPRS shows an aerial symbol, 3G shows a '3G', what does EDGE display?

I have checked this on a N70 and an N80, neither show anything realting to EDGE, wether in GSM, or Dual mode.

And according to Vodacom's Coverage Map I have EDGE coverage...

Most phones without 3G use an "E" to show edge, not sure what the N- series uses, who knows it might not even have edge!:p

That's what I'm starting to think! Although all the online reviews, etc say both N70 and N80 support EGDE.. suppose, I'll have to dig out the manual to make sure.

try it on the cell c or virgin network I think any speed over 56kb/s should indicate Edge.

Ta, you've seen the 'E' I presume?

Lastly, can the phone be in GSM mode and still make use of EDGE?

Cool, thanks V3G, as I thought.

considering Vodacom is not aggresively rolling out EDGE, the coverage is impressive. :)

Here goes:
on my N95 this is what i see:

when im connected on GPRS the connection just shows a two lines like this :
=

when im on EDGE ( connected ) it shows two lines and a E
when im on 3g or HSDPA it shows two lines and 3g

when on standby (not connected ) you will only know if u on GSM or UMTS (3G) but not whether its a EDGE enabled tower or not.

and as V3G says EDGE is GSM so if your phone is on GSM only, u will still get EDGE if its there
also note all N series do have EDGE. I have used it on a n70 but on the N70 it does not show the E
