Perhaps the ECS G10IL could use some help in the naming department, but it certainly isn't having any trouble bringing a bit of class to the subnotebook market. In addition to those stylish good looks, the G10IL sports a webcam, HSDPA 7.2, three USB ports, Ethernet and a 56Kb modem (joy of joys!). No mention is made of WiFi or Bluetooth, but at least the former seems a given. Other details are slim, but the price is supposedly "sub-$500." Perhaps this "race to the bottom" won't be so horrible after all.

I thought the guys rushing to buy eee's might be interested.

Would depend on the price really. If it is a lot more than the EEE then it is not going to kill it at all IMO.

That was my major complaint with regard to the EEE PC. It's all fine and well when you are in a Wifi area (or home network with Wifi), but these are few and far between in South Africa. Now if the EEE PC had some form of EDGE, 3G or HSDPA it would be the ideal thing to have for mobile browsing and staying in touch.

Great idea. But I just spent my $$$ on a new rig.

And ECS are always very cheap

Until the exchange rate nails the "sub $500". Works out to Sub R4000 at current rates...which is quite a bit higher than the EEE.
