EEEPC Specs

Cheapest EEEPC: R2380 + Free 4GB SDHC Class 6

Got it from there. If you live near them, phone them and they will deliver free of charge. Got mine from there.
I installed XP on mine. Followed all the instruction in the booklet it comes with and optimized performance.
All my programs are the SD I got it with. Office runs great! (Try installing 2000 or 2003, 2007 has an installation problem)
Video's, music are surprisingly loud, and run perfect from flash drive or the SD card and it has a built in microphone and browses the 'net wirelessly :)

It can run Warcraft 3 and Counter-Strike 1.6 with a bit of lag :o

BTW if I'm not mistaken, Incredible Deception was running a special a few days back (and may still be) on the basic Eee PC (2GB model) at around R2.5K. Doesn't get much cheaper than that in SA!

Sorry, correction to my earlier posting, it's in fact HiFi Corp which was advertising this special at R2499 in its last flyer, not Incredible Deception. Might still be on?

The only thing that bothers me is the small screen. . .

You'd think that.... But you really get used to it and when you use your desktop, you get scared and go "why is my moniter bigger?"

Its very clear and readable :p

ye, you might think that the screen is to small, but in actual fact it's just right, and it's quit easy to get used to, the keyboard is also small, but you will get used to it

Got one last week, quite enjoying it.
The screen and keyboard are admittedly tiny but the rapid boot up is awesome and it makes a nice blogging machine. I paid R2.4K from Key Multimedia. Came with a 2Gig SD card as well.

Anyone interested enough in netbooks to have kept reading this thread might like to mosey across to the news item I just posted in the News section, detailing the fact that up to a hundred netbooks could be on the market a year or so from now, with Asus expecting to sell 10 million Eee PCs this year!
The article (from the UK Guardian newspaper) is called 'The rise of the all-conquering Liliputer'.

I know this is a bit late but rectron also had these for 1999 ex vat ( 2 gig surf) with the 4gb eepc sdhc card included
