We got a fax today that telkom owes us R2100.00 so we sent our banking details and just now got a call from a manager at telkom.

They kind of made the wrong payment and accidentally paid R49 000.00 in our account.

(the money should show tomorrow in our account according to telkom, then we will pay it back )

Thats what I am worried about will wait for the money to show tomorrow. But we did get an official letter from telkom saying that they owe us the money and it will be repaid

It's a scam man!! Don't repay anything until the money has CLEARED in your account.

Yeah I don't think even Telkom is this stupid. Get your bank to confirm its totally cleared and that its cash before you even think of doing anything.

better still, post the fax number you faxed off your bank details to.

we can all send them some amusing faxes then:-)

A statement said: "Telkom would like to put it on record that such people do not represent the company, as Telkom does not request customers' bank details.

"In the event of a credit, Telkom passes a credit to the customer's next month's account."

Definitely a scam then.

just be careful, he is an important dignitiary

Have you reported it to the police? Maybe they can set up some sort of sting or something...

No not yet and dont know if we will, from the article posted above the police must know about it already.

And from the previous response we got with far more serious stuff that happened the police didnt do anything so I doubt they will bother investigating this.
