EFF apparently nowhere BUT...

If you look at the wards won by the EFF, you'll see very few, but the DA has the EFF to thank to a fair degree for some of their victories. I'm seeing marginal DA victories in areas I'd expect a number of EFF supporters to be in my province. I think the combination of the DA gaining ground and the EFF gaining ground is enough for the DA to snatch some wards. Unfortunately for the EFF, it looks poor, though nationally it might be a different story.

Thoughts?
 
I'm surprised they (the EFF) have not made a larger impact than this. Maybe all the screaming and shouting have not worked as well as I thought it might.

Stupid policies are still stupid no matter how loud you scream them.
 
I think we should wait for final numbers to come in before we speculate...

Don't forget that to win a ward, you still need majority in that ward. If the EFF took 30% in a ward where ANC or DA has 31%, it won't reflect as anything for the EFF.
 
There is also a current DA region lost narrowly in the Western Cape to the ANC because of the Freedom Front Plus.
So it goes both ways.

If it is in areas where the DA got more than 50% total, then the EFF's contribution is irrelevant.
But if the DA has a majority in an area where they got less than 50%, then we could say it might have been a factor.

This. It is very surprising and wouldn't be surprised if an investigation is launched querying it.
 
I think the EFF support base is too spread out to be of any consequence in Local Elections. I think they will make a much bigger impact in national elections than we are seeing here.

This would be an interesting graph to see - how many have been won outright.
 
Also keep in mind of how relatively young the EFF is. It's extraordinary to see them in the top 3.

But overall just 7.06%. I think we're all relieved that it's as low as this.
 
This is politics.


There is nothing stopping the EFF from hopping in bed with the ANC ..... Municipalities will be swayed by Kingmakers.... JuJu can easily be maneuvered as long as his pockets are filled....

I wish the numbers for EFF were a little higher actually. Every vote they get for now is a vote less for Zuma.

There are two obstacles. Juju and Zuma. It will never happen while those two are in charge.
