EFF MP slaps man after SONA

I agree totally. That is why I also question how does this turn out internationally vs locally when these incidents do occur. Unfortunately they occur too regularly in and around parliament by MPs of late.

To be clear, I have no problems with ambushes when it's verbal, indeed sometimes even witty. Example: CJ Langenhoven's donkeys:

But what we are seeing currently is just pure thug tactics which is doing us as a country any good. Perhaps we should insist on formal attire in parliament for starters.

Fair comment

I am 100% opposed to this, those overalls are saving the EFF MPs a lot of money, imagine how much they would have spent on fancy suits and dresses for yesterday's SONA.
That is what they are talking about when they say economic freedom, in our lifetime.
Did you really think they buy those overalls from Pep like mere mortals?

It is irrelevant where they purchase it at or even whether it is imported and made by the Chinese. Our MPs, however, earns more than what is considered a decent salary in SA.

However, their political parliamentary attire, it speaks volumes as to what they want to achieve as a political entity with voting rights in parliament. I cannot wrong them on that, however, they are doing it in their own best interest. For themselves and only themselves, the crony system.

My opinion (2c).

While I appreciate the tokenism, it has become a token of what is wrong in this country.

Why isn't anybody commenting on what @davesa alluded to in an earlier post: the absolute ridiculous excuse the EFF has come up with, for that slap...

so their defence against assassination, is a slap?

and a girly slap on top of that

buffoons

Let me reply to that in Afrikaans, not referring to Dave:

Wanneer jy dood gaan, weet jy nie jy is dood nie.Die pyn word gevoel deur ander mense.Dieselfde gebeur wanneer jy dom is!

I think that applies to that excuse and we don't expect more.

Bheki Cele's office confirms getting Malema 'assassination' info but can't say when

The office of police minister Bheki Cele has said that it "received information" on the alleged assassination threat that was to be carried out on Thursday at the state of the nation address (Sona).

Cele's spokeswoman, Reneilwe Serero, could however not say when they had received the information.

This comes after the EFF on Thursday claimed that EFF MP and head of party security Marshall Dlamini had slapped a policeman on Thursday "in self-defence" after the party had been alerted of a threat on the life of Julius Malema.

"I can confirm that the ministry of police has received information on a threat on the CIC of the EFF [Malema]," said Serero.

"I can only confirm the office receiving the threat, As for the timeline, I am not at liberty to say."

EFF central command team member Veronica Mente also could not tell when the party had reported the "threat" to the minister of police other than saying it was "before Sona".

This is all the evidence needed to prove that these 'leaders' of the party are nothing but uncultured, uneducated barbarians. Nothing else. They will never be fit to lead a country.
Au contraire, that is why they are fit to lead the country. The country is filled with uncultured, uneducated barbarians waiting... for their kind of leader. Natural selection.

2 slaps that are news worthy in one week, you could say things are getting out of hand

Okay I'll let myself out thanks.

That is their jobs. They should be able to protect those they are assigned to protect without any limits as to how they apply protection. What's the use of VIP protection if they are not allowed to act?

Grow up.
Are you an imbecile? Nobody should be above the law. Lets see if you still have this asinine view when these tossers run your family off the road because you wouldnt move over to the yellow lane for them.

Have you ever been pushed off the road by these bullies? You're merrily driving down a busy road when suddenly a bike appears alongside you and signals for you to move out of the way. You look for space on the left but traffic is a little heavy.

You then press on the accelerator but the threatening biker has now been joined by a second biker and by this time, there's a massive SUV behind you. You find a slot on the left and move out of the way. One of the heavies in the SUV drives alongside you for a while, uttering what appears to threads and profanities before speeding into the distance.

Happened to you?

If I could redo Lew's comment, I'd phrase it like this:
That is their jobs. They should be able to protect those they are assigned to protect without any limits as to how they apply protection within the limits of the law and reasonably. What's the use of VIP protection if they are not allowed to act reasonably?

Grow up.

That would exclude the blue light hooligans and like banana republic abuses.
Banana in this context has no other meaning than as in banana republic. :whistling:

I think it was a pretty efficient and out of the box distraction that prevented what would otherwise have been the end of an amazing politician.
