EFF MP slaps man after SONA

Think a white MP slapped a black policeman. These policemen, even though Presidential Protection Service, are public servants. It would have been Jan van Riebeeck all over again. The EFF have disturbed individuals heading their organisation and these individuals are celebrated.

To think that these individuals want the state to be the sole property owner when they are in charge. Their very own supporters will be slapped around, probably blaming their aggression on Apartheid.

Apartheid, white privilege, white monopoly capital has become the greatest excuse.

I hope he is charged, seeing many and many people on social media agreeing with the slap. I honestly don’t know with what exactly they are agreeing with? Racists.

No. Training is not the answer. Any actions from his side would lead to summary dismissal and then criminal prosecution.

It's just scary to think that uncivilized people like this are allowed to be parliamentarians. This is evident of how low African standards are set.

They're politicians

Actually, I believe I know a certain teacher who, with a bit of training, can sort these EFF bully boys out quick quick ...

Why would you want to put her through that? The equality, constitutional and whatnot court will quickly send her on a 3-year program to understand and regret white privilege in the South African society.

Could you please tell me how regularly that happens there, also what happens afterwards?

Here by us it's par for the course for certain MPs, as such I'd like to compare.

Read the post I was responding to for context.

Politicians are equals, parliamentary house rules across the country had some good brawls and they have the right to openly criticize within the session and sitting, except that in our houses you are quickly told to be seated or removed. This slap also didn’t take place during the SONA sitting. The National Assembly was adjourned.

You obviously didn't read Lew Skannen's post...

Fair enough.

But in that context (yes, there is a but), it is despicable for MPs to act like this. Normal civilized people would expect consequences for something like this - that is what I'm referring to. Unfortunately this is not the rule here and something we as tax payers pay for that gets turned into a piss up and circus time and again. I don't care about whataboutisms, this is not what should be happening. We as South Africans need better and anybody excusing it for whatever reason is part of the problem.

I don't care about whatabiutisms either. I believe as lawmakers, they must hold themselves to higher moral standards. Hardly an attempt by his colleagues to restrain him.

However, I don't like it when it's made out like brawls and this kind of behaviour is uniquely African.

The public opinion from all sides of the fence isn't helping either.

It isn't uniquely African, however it seems to be mostly the EFF and ANC though.

I agree totally. That is why I also question how does this turn out internationally vs locally when these incidents do occur. Unfortunately they occur too regularly in and around parliament by MPs of late.

To be clear, I have no problems with ambushes when it's verbal, indeed sometimes even witty. Example: CJ Langenhoven's donkeys:
Langenhoven was known for his sharp wit and gentle manner. Once, while a member of parliament, he yelled out in frustration: “Half of this parliament are donkeys!” The Speaker immediately demanded he retract his angry statement, so Langenhoven complied: “All right, Mister Speaker. Half of this parliament are not donkeys.”

But what we are seeing currently is just pure thug tactics which is doing us as a country any good. Perhaps we should insist on formal attire in parliament for starters.

I am 100% opposed to this, those overalls are saving the EFF MPs a lot of money, imagine how much they would have spent on fancy suits and dresses for yesterday's SONA.
That is what they are talking about when they say economic freedom, in our lifetime.

If that chop slapped me like that I would would give him one serious well coordinated boere PK
