When the Ronaldo/Messi debate was on, I predicted if he were ever to move to La Liga he will be nothing. It really showed tonight.

I thought he had like 27 goals in 27 games or whatever? Or are you admitting that there are only two teams in La Liga?
 
Ronaldo has 25 goals in 27 games.

Messi has 40 goals in 40 games.

My point is that Ronaldo is average compared to Messi. Now everybody can see how AVERAGE he is but when he was in the EPL he was a GOD!!!!!

In La Liga everybody knows he is a great player but not as good as Messi. Tonight Messi stole the show again! Another show that was billed as Messi vs Ronaldo and Ronaldo never showed up.

This is SWEETER than the Arsenal win.

Missed the game, but I had a feeling Ronaldo would be given a footballing lesson by a midget again.

That is still very impressive considering it's his first season in La Liga.
 
Great game. More quality and entertainment than the corresponding top of the table PL game last weeked.

Madrid's galácticos were rather petulant towards the end though
 
Cant believe the TOTAL Football on display by Barca.

Playing a RIGHT BACK as a foward in the first half then playing a LEFT BACK as a centre foward in the second half.

BRILLIANT!!!!

He is having a great season. I predicted when the Ronaldo/Messi debate was at an all time high that if he were to ever move to La Liga he will be average compared to Messi.

In the EPL he was a GOD and was hailed as the greatest footballer. It was argued that Messi was not as complete as him and that he was better than Messi bla bla bla.

I also said that if he were to move then people will stop talking about him like he was a GOD because people will be able to compare him to Messi on a weekly basis.

Guess what?

I was right :D :D

Firstly Well done Barca!! Great win and Messi did his one bit in the game
But this is Ronaldo's 1st year in Spain and Messi's been there since 12...If you were to make this argument then you would have to put Messi in the EPL when Ronaldo scored his 42 goals....

Dude, no point trying. He made that exact same argument with Ibra vs Ronaldo, but can switch it around to suit himself.
 
Ronaldo will never be hailed as a GOD as he was in the EPL.

There are better players in La Liga compared to the EPL.

The Spanish press have rounded on Cristiano Ronaldo following Real Madrid's loss to Spanish champions-elect Barcelona on Saturday night.

"Leo makes a fool of Cristiano in the clash of the stars" was the headline in the Catalan daily Sport after Messi's opening goal had knocked the wind out of Real's sails.

"Too much Messi for CR9," was the headline in the usually Real-biased Marca newspaper.

"Lionel Messi showed on Saturday in the Bernabéu that the second-best player in the world is light years from his level," the Sport suggested. "As Leo was attempting to add to his goal tally, Cristiano was lost on the pitch, making pointless runs and expressing his rage with angry, excessive gestures."

"Ronaldo had to resign himself to the fact that his reign in the football world has ended and that's that."

The scathing reports in the Spanish press echoed the disappointment felt by Real fans, who booed Ronaldo towards the end of the match.

Their reaction towards the Portuguese star may be considered harsh by some. Most of Real's best work in the Clasico emanated from Ronaldo, and he was exhausted by his total, if ultimately fruitless, commitment to Real's cause. It's just that many Real supporters remain unconvinced in this season, which looks set to end trophy-less, that Ronaldo is worth the €94m he was bought for, or that his cause is in actual fact Real's.

It will be interesting to see whether Ronaldo can help to pick Real up with some of his typically brilliant performances after suffering such a public disappointment.

As JJ Santos noted in Spanish As newspaper, "Cristiano turned into a roadrunner chasing shadows."

"By the time he found space and had the ball he was already exhausted and had to watch in despair as a genius like Messi destroyed Pellegrini's defensive network."

"And even harder to take than the defeat must have been the fact that the fans whistled him for the first time."
