I got it at 45 usd for my SO on a special from isthereanydeal.com but never since has it gone down in that manner.
 
2 hours* and she is dead. I repeat she is dead. Wasn't an easy fight going in with a int/faith build vs arc (bleed) or my tank with 2x great swords. Tiche was about the only ash that did something useful, sadly most of my spells was kind useless other than Smarag's Glintstone Breath, Adula's Moonblade and Ice Spear on the Clayman's Harpoon. Which btw is seriously good weapon for a caster as about anything ashed on it goes quite well.

*note. I took my time to try out different combinations and ashes.
 
Finished NG+ with a save before the fight and got all 3 trophy endings now. Going to do Valiant Gargoyles today then I've done all the bosses. Then it's on to a guide to get all the rest of the missing weapons / spells etc. to get Platinum.

Nice! I just challenged him twice and died. I'll backup before I do it again
 
Jeez. Ok died 20 times now. Taking a break. That beast is hard to get close enough and when you close its hard to see what he is doing.
 
I know bleed doesn't work on them. But I managed to get elden beast down to 30 percent on day two. I think of respeccing with strength and Dex and using Melanias hand katana. Thoughts on a good samurai spec?

You can jump over the holy rings it cast. Just see how many times you need to jump as sometimes you need to do it thrice as there is three rings. Otherwise anti holy damage does wonders, I suppose you could always try a shield that has holy damage or ashed as one to at least block some of it. The other thing you should stock on your person as it blocks 100% damage at least once is this

Then before you know you will get one-shotted, bottoms up and survive at least that one hit.

so i got the beast down to 30 percent twice thus far. i reckon overall now 40 attempts. Im just gonna "git gud" and get better at timing and pattern. I dont need to touch my build weapon/skills wise. Would be great to beat the game without summoning other players and finish a bleed immune boss to show i dont totally cheese everything hahaahaaa

Tbh; the beast is actually a lot easier then Malina if you didn't cheese her to death. The only annoying part is part 1 before the beast where as the beast is more like a glorified Astel. But as you say closing the gap is the main issue here and if you don't already focus on its belly when you are close. Otherwise as I said, jump the rings, block the holy and/or do uplifting aromatic. I had far less issues with the actual beast part vs Malina, and
Radagon.

Finally, after you've killed it, backup your save game and then you do a few endings.

yeah i cheesed Malina with bleed hahahaaaaa. but as i said im not a useless fighter. I played most of the game without ROB. so def just gonna git gudder :)
