Electricity bill reading explanation.

Can someone help explain how to read my bill. Iv never had to pay one before or read until now. Iv circled in red the part that really confuses me.20190802_143336.jpg
 
you are being charged for 1816kWh between 18/04 - 19/07 , your meter start reading was 85593 and end reading was 87409.

those other 2 prior line items look like credits based on some estimation.
 
For the first 1440 kwh you are billed one rate.
For the next usage above that, you are billed another, more expensive rate.

?
 
I would assume one is before the price increase and one is after.
 
You are probably on a block tariff, meaning that for a first block of kWh you pay a start (cheapest) rate, and after a set amount you move into a secodn block tariff that is more expensive. It is an odd value though to move into a new block tariff though. It could also be that general tariff increases was applied from a certain date.
 
Okay makes sense. So to work out my monthly kwh usage for the past 3 months would be the full amount of 1816kWh divided into 3 right..which should be around 605kwh per month

100%.. Ethekwini like doing shyte like that... They estimate and estimate and the do a reading that is just confuzzled as fsck...
