I am a city of Jhb power user.

I would previously buy R2000 worth and get 1235 units. Now I got 1037 for R2000 that's a 19% increase.

On residential prepaid.

What about surcharges and service fees? These all eat into what you receive

In CT the amount of electricity you receive depends on what tier you are on. This in turn depends on how much you bought last time and the period between your purchases

You can't expect City of CT (or Jhb power for that matter) for not having the most convoluted system possible, such that their own staff cannot figure it out

And every year they change the rules and tariff

Dodgy as **** DA, changed the tariff bands so end up paying more plus the new service fee.

Just did the calc now Jhb city say 13% increase as per Nersa because of the tariff band changes it equals 19% for the first 3000 kWh.
