Electricity price increase lowered

Ahhh but guys.... they've lowered it from 25%.. can't you see you're saving money?

Most welcome the decrease is but you can't help feeling or knowing that the consumer and business will always be facing some sort of a deficit as a result of the 25% increases Eskom were granted the past 2 years which were waaaaaaaaaaaaaay over the CPIX.
 
I am surprised - with plans for a R300 Billion nuclear reactor from the French and Chinese (Where did apartheid SA, Iran and various others get nuclear tech from?...) I was expecting an increase! I love how we are 30-40 years or more behind the curve, now we are looking at gas turbines and some of the oldest, crappiest nuclear technology. Everyone else is moving to small nuclear reactors (such as a Thorium reactor) which are MUCH safer and can actually be powered by old nuclear waste (some are being built to get rid of nuclear waste in the UK, power is a by product!!) and various sustainable options, we are going for Chernobyl technology:sick:

Really nice to see those increases each year are getting some good research and planning done...
 
Actually to give our guys credit...

I'm hearing that we're looking at options like the WestingHouse AP1000 which is cutting edge Gen III+ design, and has only just received approval from the NRC in the states.

BUT, I know in reality we'll go with older technology at inflated prices so that some comrades can buy a new fleet of bmw's.
 
And unfortunately for a home user there is hardly any other viable alternatives, Apart from gas and solar, with solar still being rather pricey.
 
why don't they trimm at the top and cut some fats cats pie in half
 
There was an article last year or so stating that Eskom employees are earning about R450k on average. Eskom has 40k employees.
