Electricity up another 25.8% from Friday

Aaah, denying the legacy of apartheid. Great that was predictable.
Actually the Government in 17 years increased the percentage of people with electricity from 30% to 80%. That may be F All to you but to the people getting electrixcity for the first time it's not F All. Eskom is servicing area's they previously did not. Many rural areas and townships. That's the point.

I have no issue with the increase in prices - I have a problem with the price shocks due to incompetence.

If the electricity generation capacity and distribution had been developed like it was supposed to then the prices would had been gradually increased over 17 years.
That would have increased the inflation rate and therefore salaries would have been adjusted over a 17 year period to match the inflation rate.
What we have now is a major price shock and salaries that do not keep up with the increases. I lay the blame squarely at the feet of the ANC.

That's very good, but maybe they should also listened to the experts when they were warned that the infrastructure wouldn't be able to handle the extra load?
They could have planned/budgeted and build more capacity almost from day one, as they knew they wanted to provide power to the people.

This is spot on. The shortsightedness of the ANC as a whole over the last 17 years has caused issues like this to pop up. And to add to that, as i have said before; If they had done these upgrade projects from the beginning, they would have skilled up their labour force by now, and the "breakdowns" that keep happening would be very much reduced in number and severity.
Everyone should be able to realize that you learn far more in any job, doing a full installation than doing the day to day maintenance. Well everyone except for the ANC.

On a serious note, how long will this carry on? Everything is rising in price but our salaries. How much more do they think the taxpayers can take?

It was the obstinance of the ANC "Childlike mind" that caused them to ignore the experts. All because the experts were from the "old era", so lets rather work against them, than figure out how to work with them. Lets rather act like children and do exactly the oposite just to be spiteful. I wish someone had told them that jumping off a cliff would be bad for them, maybe their spite would have dont us all a favour.
