You sound like those guys who blame apartheid for everything, except you blame the ANC for everything.
We don't have the energy reserves, that's the point. And unlike most countries in the world we have to increase our capacity because so much of the country doesn't have electricity infrastructure. That costs. Plus electricity rates are skyrocketing around the whole world - the ANC is not that powerful that it controls the worlds electricity prices! The increases here are part of a global trend plus we have to build infrastructure whereas most other countries already have their infrastructure in place. Despite this our electricity is still some of the cheapest in the world.

oh, and please tell me how many "privately" owned cars the Zuma family "owned" from the taxpayer? I'm sure you've worked it out

We're not talking about crime, we're talking about the price of electricity and the comparison was not only with finland, but with many other countries.

So what the ANC are doing are comparing all the local conditions with International conditions and circumstances and selectively use that as a justification to milk the middle class dry. Of course it would take a lot of considerations and calculations to what gains suits the ANC pockets more and thus those will be the "solutions" implemented. Bugger Joe the citizen or what is best for the country as a whole. The ANC runs this country like a profitable business it seems where only the few major "shareholders" (in the ANC elite) reap the benefits.
 
With all the increases of everything I can't even afford the Vaseline anymore!

Things are slowly being run into the ground here!

In Finland, and any other 1st world country most citizens pay tax because most citizens have jobs, are well educated, well skilled, etc. In SA, the few that are educated subsidize those that can't. As middle class you should expect to pay a lot more than your counterpart in Finland.
That's just the way it is. High crime rates, inequalities, poverty, corruption are just some of the typical aspects of a developing country. Don't compare us to Finland, rather compare us to Brazil, India etc.

That was my point :) You can not want to compare somethings to a country like finland because it makes what you are doing oke, but when it comes to the bad things you want only to use the worse off countries.

I hate it when people say we have the same services as Finland ( just a example ) and we are so good here and look we are so better. But when you ask to compare the level of service delivery the same person say you can not compare it. because finland is a first world country.

Then lets not compare apples with oranges to start with.

This is before we received the three year thing in 2010.

I don't think we should be compared to India either.
We should be comparing ourselves to countries that have similar GDP per capitas, so Brazil is just fine, so is Peru. When looking at this, we actually have cheaper/comparable energy figures/prices.

So they increased it by 25% last year:
85c
Now they increased it by 25%
106c
Next year it will be 25%:
132c


Or did I get something wrong? I might be doing math like a hooligan though :o

In my understanding we should be paying more for electricity than these first world countries because we have so much more infrastructure and generating capacity to still build whereas most first world countries have their infrastructure already in place. We don't have the same services as Finland, for example, that's the point. In order to reach the level Finland is at, we need to build build build and that costs money. So, I would expect our prices to be higher because we are spending more but in fact our prices are lower - lower than many first world countries. Electricity prices are soaring everywhere, not only here. For example:

I think it's disingenuous to blame the ANC here. The government is fulfilling it's promise to expand and improve on electricity supply, it costs money, anywhere in the world.
