And for saving Eskom used that excuse to increase the tariff... phft.

Decreases were reported for all the provinces during this period ranging from minus 14.8% for North West to minus 0.7% for KwaZulu-Natal.

Interesting to see the huge difference between provinces.

Yes, we haven't heard a single peep from Eskom this whole winter so far. Not so much as even a gentle warning to reduce comsumption. Makes you wonder what on earth was going on last year with loadshedding.

last years load shedding was about Eskum shock tactics & holding the public to ransom so they can get their 57% tariff increase. Which did not happen. In fact they shot themselves in the foot, cause consumption is down and now they r losing profits!!

so now they have applied for another 34% tariff increase:eek:

Despite changing watt hungry bulbs to low wattage bulbs, installing a sheet expensive timer (R450 ) for the geyser, a R4500-00 gas stove and insulating my house against the cold & heat by installing roof insulation and spending R10k on double glazing! which I might add has made a BIG difference as I no longer need a heater on now or an aircon in summer!! HOWEVER my electricity bill continues to go up EVERY month regardless!!! WTF!!!

So eskum please explain why after all these electricity savings I have made!!! WHY DOES MY ELECTRICITY BILL CONTINUE TO RISE EVERY MONTH!!!

I think there billing system is rigged to maintain a constant income regardless of the end user using LESS!!

Our usage is still the same as last year as we use power saving lights for a long time already and use electricity as sparingly as possible.

We need more options on the poll...

how about a "The same" option and a "Don't Know" option? Maybe also a "Don't care" option?

Escom encouraged usage saving, South Africans listened.
Now the saving brings about price hikes (albeit hidden in fancy-talk). Hikes that far exceed the inflation rate (roughly the rate of salary increases too) means that people cannot afford to use a similar amount of electricity to one year previously - thus more 'saving' of electricity consumption. Will this lead to more price hikes? Is the process going to be a vicious circle?

Why oh why do I have to pay such an exorbitant amount for a basic need such as electricity? My consumption has decreased compared to last year, yet the bill has increased...
