In line with another thread that I started, namely:

Has the Need For Speed series come to an end?

I have a question...

What do you guys think of EA?

I personally can't stand them, they seem to buy up companies, smash them together and pump out games that just generally 'suck' (or could've been better had EA not bought the company over)

I started my 'hate hate' thing for EA when they took over Westwood Studios and totally FUBAR'd the C&C series.

I'm a firm believer in "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" and well, they can go and buy whoever they want, just leave the people to do what they do best, but they seem to buy the companies, change too many things and then bam... disasters happen - games come out too soon and they just suck!

This all of cause, is just IMO!

+100... I agree. I used to love EA games back in the day... but the bigger they grew, the more their games started to lose that awesomeness touch. Now there's nothing great about them... they could learn a thing or two from Blizzard

Blizzard are doing well yes.
Codemasters too.

EA have grown and grown and grown and now just make KARK games, or own companies that make KARK games.

Command and conquer red alert 1 was the best. Then came EA. . .

EA have come out with some rubbish, they have also brought out some gems...

I think given the variety of titles, they probably expected many flops...

I also agree about the C&C series.. but then again, if Westwood Studios sold to EA, they needed it, and there really wasnt any other future for the game than what it currently is. I dunno, hard to tell, EA has improved and unimproved releases in the same series...
Jack of all trades but a master in none.

Doubt it Drag...

I know that people will get fired (alot of people already have been) and EA will probably push up the prices of their games, add more stupid DRM's and yeah, just generally p1ss "us" off.

No! they should not have started to mingle in WW's business. They should've just left them and let them do their thing.
WW was always compared to Blizzard, a company that takes pride in their games.
Straight after EA bought WW, EA slapped "C&C" on a stupid game called Generals in a hope it would sell more and then started sending WW staff off to different branches and then ultimately closed Westwood.

Biggest mistake EVER!

They like most big companies, they take over, change things, rush this, fire that person, tell that person to move here, do that... what happens... problems!

As you can see, I've done quite a bit of research into this and I seriously wish I could get hold of a top EA dog just to tell him to calm the F down and stop F'ing up!!!!!!!!

I can't agree there Pe... think about it.

MS makes you pay what... R3000 once off (vista ultimate?!? or R1000 for XP Pro)

Think of all the games EA releases that they expect you to buy, if you add it all up, you pay 2x/3x what MS expects you to pay for 1 product.

Except MS expects you to keep adding updates which chew cap up

used to hate them now i love them, they gave me dead space and mirrors edge, and they keep their games prices as low as possible.

They messed up fifa as well this is what happens when you have to much money!!!!

I hate EA for buying BioWare. Used to get fantastic support for any technical issue now with that being outsourced to EA it takes days to get a reply and usual the first reply is pathetic. The guy who did the tech support at the BW site before was much much better.

EA has been a mixed bag. When they act as publisher alone, some gems have come out and been well worth it. When they act as developers though, it's been a much more mixed bag.

EA has had to make a big turn around, they made some bad choices to do with copy protection on games and churning out the same generic games year after year. While they aren't there yet, I think EA will eventually become a decent company again. Not too soon but eventually.

I agree with your last part Asha'man X.
The CEO is already realizing that they are screwing up big time... still not doing anything about it, but I think in time something might change.

Oh and I think C&C 3 was great!
