Elementary OS vs Windows 8

Nope, purely an editor. I used to use stuff like Picasa, but it got annoying really quickly.

Yeah Picasa is not working for me.

iPhoto really is a wonder when it comes to management and breaking up events etc automatically.

I clicked on "Custom", typed a "0" and clicked on "Download Freya". That was incredibly difficult to figure out. Just because I had to click twice and type a "0" once, that's it! I'm boycotting the developers and refuse to have anything to do with Elementary OS. Really!?

Clicking "Download" on ubuntu.com to get hold of Ubuntu 15.04 also results in a screen asking for a donation. That can also be ignored but it seems as if a developer that asks for a donation to try to compensate them a little for their hard work in releasing and maintaining a top-class OS is asking too much.

I agree with you Necuno, what is this world coming to?

Missing the point I think. Not boycotting the developers either. I simply mean that, why do they ask you for a donation before doing the actual download. Like I said, it is just very in your face. Sure, you can go ahead and donate nothing if you want, but it would be better to have a "not now" or "no thanks" button.

Maybe I am just old fashioned, just used to it that way I guess.

What I meant by the fact that I will never use it, is that I am perfectly happy with Arch at the moment, and seeing that screen, I just moved away from the site without thought.

I understand your point. It's not a good first impression when they chuck the donate button in your face but it's still something that's perfectly acceptable since it's optional and worth paying for if you actually make use of it.

Of course, I agree that if you make use of it, it is worth paying for. Nothing against that.

No offence but I don't think he's ready for Arch.

Only took me 3 attempts; I did found it funny using fdisk again :D

Its definitely one of the better distros that enables you to have on what you actually want on and not just one shoe for all.

These are the 3 parts I used to set up it... not that hard really:

Easy page 1 - 15 (before starting X and graphics drivers, after fetching X see VB additions below)

VB additions (this if you are using virtual box, no need to install graphics after this, just start x to test and continue with above guide)

Partitioning (used MBR from fdisk)

I'm just going to stick to Windows and just get an additional 16gb Ram then window can suck my lollipop

Thanks for the links :) Especially the Arch Linux Tutorial (bookmarked) I've realised that Arch is exactly what I want (highly customizable/bleeding edge//the "stock Linux experience")(The Arch Way). I plan to install Arch on my main PC tomorrow night (after 10pm, ofc). What partitioning scheme do you recommend? /, /home and /swap (classic)?

Hehe :)

Well I'm in no way a linux expert :D

I used MBR for VB as I could not get the GPT working. Partitioning inside VB I normally do as one thing and let the OS handle it, but for my actual box I used the threesome /, /home and /swap. I'd probably do a Arch Install as main later on after having played a bit with it in VB.
