20 Euros? Hell, is it that good?

I have gotten way to used to free software in Linux, to convince me to pay 20 Euros for something, it really has to blow me away. I will, and have, donated the equivalent of 5-10 Euros to apps that I've found really useful, and that don't shove the donation requests in my face. Something as blatant as this, and that doesn't even let you try it, can get stuffed.

What is rather mean is that the cost aspect is not mentioned on their blurb-page. So, you waste time and bandwidth to download and you can't even get to try it.

This may be a way to at least have a look at it:
You can run Elive directly from the CD, without the need to install it. Just put the CD in the drive and reboot.

...and in spite of them wanting money:
Elive is in development software state so don't expect things to work perfectly on the first shot. We hope so, but you've been warned :)

What really got me steaming was when they said there is an option to get it for free, but only once the developer feels like you contributed something to his ego. It is basically impossible to get this going without forking out the cash.

Yikes 20 euro's, thank goodness for the freedom of choice and all the options out there.

So you can use the live cd but need to pay to install? Weird.

Also, just to mention, if the software is not on the LiveCD then you cannot install it to ram, it is not allowed or you get a heap of errors. I tried this as well (dd anyone?) so that route is also blocked.

Lucky me, before downloading, I read about it on distrowatch.com & noticed it was NOT free...
