I've been trying to move away from cloud mail to my own hosted domain email, and thus I want to change over all the various "notification/registration" email addresses that my web hosting provider uses to send me communications (tickets, domain re-reg etc)
Many of the email addresses used by each domain I own are controllable via the domain control panels, but others are obviously hosting- and isp-internal.
Upon my request to have all these changed over to my new email address (so that no more communications go into the old cloud email), I am being asked for a copy of my ID. Is this normal? I've never been asked for this before, and fail to see the security benefit, since I can do nasty things like disable my entire set of domains without providing it. Also, I'd prefer not to send my Id (copy or original) through the battlefield that is the web...
