Personally I prefer email still, call me old fashioned :D All these social networking sites do is to encourage people to post the most irrelevant hogwash, like I care **** all that you had rice crispies for breakfast this morning! :wtf:

:D

agree 100%

I think it's important that email is an actual open standard and is not in the hands of any one company who may do whatever their business interests dictate. It's still possible to run your own email server and have 100% control over how it works and where data is stored. I don't think FB handles attachments in any standard way, but maybe I'm wrong?

Twitter
When I first noticed Twitter I thought it was a load of rubbish, but as I started following people who had similar interests, it opened a whole new world to me. Twitter's Search function alone is brilliant as a service on its own. Just about any major news story of relevance is usually picked up on Twitter first (or published first) but more importantly, you can then follow the development of that major event in *realtime* throughout the event. Add to this twitter's extensions for easy browser or smartphone access and you're good to go.

I think Twitter is a load of rubbish but would be willing to give it a decent try. Which feeds would you recommend?

The way in which we communicate has certainly changed, but not email.

I only use email to communicate with close friends and obviously for work. Imagine a client sending through a request on twitter? I’ll definitely have an ‘Away from my desk/smart phone” response and respond in 2 to 3 working days!

I found this interesting, By the Numbers: How the Digital Revolution Changed Our World. Found at: http://www.newsweek.com/feature/201...the-digital-revolution-changed-our-world.html

Snippet: In 2000 Google searches daily were 100 million, today 2 billion searches daily!
In 2000 daily emails 12 billion, today 247 billion emails daily!

Email is dying? yeah right!

Snail mail's still around so why would Email die.
Faxes now there's a dying breed although still around and will be for a while but with scanners and MFP's Emailing a document a whole lot easier.
Plus do you really want to Facebook or Twitter to your boss?

Snail mail is there for physical delivery - its a by product of a government owned courier service.

With more people shopping they actually getting busier.
Just the same there is a electronic need for email.Especially in the work place.

Also, Email (and SMS) are seen as legal documents - I doubt that a Facebook wall entry counts for a legal document.

Although there was an article about a guy getting served his divorce papers via FB, but seriously who want's go to go court and have to rely on their Facebook Wall for their defense.
