Hello

I'm currently having issues with setting up and accessing my email accounts. When using wifi, I cannot setup or access any of my domain hosted email accounts. If I switch to 3G on my tablet however, I can set them up and access them without a problem. When I switch back to wifi though, nothing. They can't log in. I'm guessing it has something to do with the router settings (d-link 2750u). I can't figure it out. Hopefully someone has an idea. I was thinking of maybe resetting the router to factory defaults and trying again.

it is your outgoing mail settings.

you need to use the settings for your mail account, not the ISP settings....

Do you have internet access on your wifi? It sounds like a DNS issue getting to your RPC server.

Edit: That is if your connecting to an exchange server.

I had a guy from the isp access my computer last night to see if he could sort it out, but nothing. I've tried different email clients as well and double checked that all my settings are as they should be. It's weird that I have no problems via 3G, only wifi which makes me believe it has something to do with the router settings. I have access to websites, etc with the wifi, just the email is having issues. None of the clients can even setup the email accounts. All come back with check password and username, which I know are correct as I have set up the email accounts on my tablet with 3G using the same settings.

Which ISP is connected behind the Wifi? perhaps that ISP is blocking mail ports? Is it an exchange or pop account? Which ports does your mail provider use? While on a PC connected to the wifi can you try telnet into maildomain: port and see if you successfully connect. try completely eliminate the ISP from the culprit list before redoing your router settings. if the rest of the internet sites are accessible with no issues via the wifi router & mails are working on 3G, I'd first suspect the ISP behind the wifi and eliminate them later if they pass all tests

The email setting

in: mail.domainname.co.za
out: smtp.domainname.co.za (not the isp)

then look at the pic I linked.

else if say you set outgoing to VC, the mail will work. But then you move to wifi(ADSL is mweb/AH/IS/OW) the outgoing mail will be wrong....

And that will prevent your email program from being able to complete the testing phase of the setup.

I got everything to work perfectly for about 5 minutes. I managed to set up the accounts and get the emails all via wifi... then it stopped working again (without having changed anything after it started working)

hmmm,

The email - is it hosted onsite by yourself, or is it hosted at a hosting company. Also what ISPs are the clients with?

The email is hosted with Afrihost. I am with Telkom ISP.

ok,

so you were chatting to telkom.

I think you might need to chat to AH hosting support, if you say it worked and then stopped.

More than likely you will have to talk to Mweb. We had links through Telkom ADSL with Mweb mail. Mweb is proprietary and your WiFi most likely does not have the right handshake. 3G most likely set up that way anyhow. You pay them for network access, don't you?
