Ahoy, apologies if this is the wrong subforum, wasn't sure whether to post here or in business and finance.

I'm looking for some kind of software or service that allows you to send sms' from your email. I do know vodacom and cellc offer a few sms' a day but I'll definitely need more than that. Preferably some kind of prepaid package that allows a certain number of sms' rather than a monthly contract.

So has anyone come across something of that sort and if so can you point me in the right direction?

Thanks.

Hi, I work for a WASP but our company does not offer the service because it is 100% unreliable. Clients often forget to hit the "send" button on important Email 2 SMS emails or spam filters kick in, or just general delays in delivery.

I've got many friends that I warned against such services but they all ignored me for a while, now every single one of them avoids its use. Your better off buying credits for a web based portal or just get yourself a telemetric contract from Vodacom and send via a modem on your PC.

There are a few free services like fsms.co.za & smstexter.com & more if you look hard enough ;-)

Hello

Which web based portals would you recommend people use?
Preferably a company that actually beats the standard sms bundles provided by Vodacon and MTN

Your not going to beat network pricing but web based options give you more value for your money. I'm not here to punt products but a quick google should bring up some local options. Best is to try a few and see for youself.

If its for personal use then some free options are excellent like fsms, but if its for business then rather look at paid products that only use local networks. Fsms use international carriers and often their messages cannot be delivered or are delayed.

Yeah but its for business so I don't think it'll be suitable. :)

Thanks for the advice, I think I'll go for a web based option, found a few that seem decent.
