I cant seem to find a demo of this, so would just like to find out from those of you who have it, if its worth the 375 price tag?? I have played some of the other games in the series, but there are a few games i am keeping tabs on, so dont just wanna splash the cash on a average game...

worth it or not?

The reviews look great... and the Total War series have never been a disappointment. I'd take the risk...

be aware that you will need a 1 gig patch....

...its not in a very decent condition as it comes out of the box.

My Bud at work has got it and loves it. If you like Empire Earth I & II you will love this. Need a monster of a machine though. I think I'm going to play some Empire Earth II again this weekend (only got a P4 3Ghz and AGP 7600GS)

If you liked the previous Total War games, you'll love Empire.

It is a Steam game, sadly.

I saw Rome Total War at Incredible Connection (Cresta) for R29 a few weeks ago.

Strange, I don't recall my game updating via steam with 1gig?

its the coming patch (if steam only activates it and do not update) :D, anyways what i meant was apparently its not so good out of the box as it is and with the patch it should be better....

You are totally misinformed. The patch is 80-100mb. The 1 gig thing is a bug which happen to people who don't have steam fully updated. Steam then tries to download the game instead of just the activation files.

I have Empire Total war, to get the game to play first you need to download a patch of 80-100mb then there's a second bug fixing patch which is optional for 80mb.

It's nowhere near 1 gig.

The game is fantastic. Topseller in the uk retail charts on all platforms and topseller on most of the digital distribution service as well.

Its totally worth it.

You can pick up Rome total war + expansion for R39 at CNA now, check the bargain bin in Menlyn mall, there are about 100 copies...

I don't really see the use in trying to play a strategy game on n console though.

That having been said it is truly an awesome game! On my way to invade India or at least I will be when I get home :p
After that France need a good kick in the privates as they keep trying to sell me a crappy little island that has been invaded by pirates!

Beware naval combat though. It gets really confusing when you take the wind into consideration. :)

The game is really cool, maybe a bit too easy but since the grand campaign is really massive you will still spend a lot of time to complete it. Does anyone have the special edition? Was it worth the extra bucks?

Patch is out

The first patch (I assume of many) is availble via steam.
