hi guys , i need help !!

im working for a company who sells fake "things" to clients , now each time something goes wrong with the fake thing , i have to tell the client they should just try again , in the meantime i am changing settings for them so that it works properly.

now i cant give alot of details but it is in the IT department , but i recieved a warning because i told one of our clients what was going on.

can i take this company to court , CCMA or how does it work ? i really dont want to lose my job and i didnt study lawyarism lol !!!

Change your job if it clashes with your morals.

Is there actually anything criminal going on? Seems a bit odd giving someone a warning when your companies doing criminal ****. What would they tell the CCMA? We fired his ass for disclosing our criminal ****?

Why are you working for criminals?

If its just something you consider to be a bit ethically dodgy then you shouldn't be working there, especially if youre going to **** with their ****.

i would say they are just trying to save money and the company is legit and registered aswell with ICASA , but its illigal in a way as the customer in the end is not getting what he paid for.

and yeh , i was wondering the exact same thing , as im positive they will get a hefty fine or they should close down or a whole bunch of people would lose their jobs.

what do you mean if i am going to **** with their **** lol ?
the thing that bothers me is that ccma wont protect me ? or they will protect me for a limited amount of time until i get another job.

this job does go against my morals as im a honest person and lying just isnt in it for me.

I would be very careful disclosing what might be considered corporate secrets even if it is borderline stuff.

It's not within the CCMAs mandate to investigate ethical practices as far as I know. Thier hands may be tied if they have to consider your case as disloyalty.

I meant duck with their shid.

If there's no chance of your companies BS landing on you rather shut up and get another job as soon as you can.

It's biting the hand that feeds you to accept a salary then question their practices publicly.

You're just not in a position to rock the boat I'm afraid.

@ Woopla, Yea dude I wouldn't work for that company - See if you can find another job in the meanwhile, once you can work their send in your resignation, if you still have some morals left, before its to late.

dont worry, i still have alot left lol.

and yeah i was wondering if i left here , and then take them to court ?

just make sure you have "actual evidence" before you take them to court.

i have a whole list of companies who operate in dbn who are currently on that package .

they also deal with spam or how do we call it again , email marketing

maybe you should also hire a private detective that can pull some resources for you and witnesses.

At least we know you aren't a politician ;)

bru i tell you , if i had access to fix potholes and roads and tax payers money, you would think we were staying in germany or some other clean country with very good roads and free adsl on fridays from 12 to 12 , VERY low LINE RENTALS FOR ADSL ! :D
like R50pm just for the maintenance and upkeep hehe.

i wouldnt be driving the latest and greatest car , dont need to show that im rich , aka invitation to get robbed lol . anyways i do know somebody who can help this guy out with private investigating as he does deal with debts and people who dont pay :D

woopla you have mail !

I don't understand what this could be. If it's pirated "things", then report them to SAFACT:
http://www.safact.co.za/piracy_reporting.htm
Or, you could report them to the BSA, if it's pirated software, and net yourself R100k.
http://www.bsa.org/country/Report Piracy.aspx
Would that help you make the right decision?

I guess it comes down to "how far are you willing to compromise yourself?".

they arent selling pirated software , its basically accounts that arent true to what they are supposed to be.

basically , this place has around 30 people working here and i think there must be like only 2 pc's that have an original copy of windows on it , and thats excluding ms office 2007 / 2010. Im not even going to start to tell you what are on the servers ... how sure are you that i can net R100k ? that sounds like a good deal but what are the chances that i wont recieve that amount ? it does sound a bit far fetched.

as for the place closing down , dont really care although one of collegues who work with me, i would feel a little bad if he were to loose his job as he is a good man. i think if i report them to the BSA , this company will not have enough funds to buy legitimate software for all the desktops.

@woopla dude by the looks of it they can still be busted for using pirated software (downloaded / not paid for) you cant network a whole place with one windows 7 dvd and theres like dozens of pc's lol faildozer beep beep , yeah shes gna ride euw good boy lol

like fastesthamster said , depends how far are you willing to compromise yourself.... if you got a new job then go for it , but if you are still working for these people , and you want to do this , tread lightly soldier .... tread lightly

I would also if I were you enquire from the competition commission. They deal with a range of complaints, hopefully they'll also be able to direct you to the correct company that can deal with this.
