Employee refusing to eat... any advice????

I think over and above the usual dismissal blahblah you wanna do as much as you can to ensure she's healthy, though to be honest it sounds like you are.

A few years ago we had a maid who temped, she basically was bleeding and in obvious discomfort but insisting she was fine before my wife saw it and literally forced her to the doctors. Before anyone saw her she said she didn't want to go and left. Nurse tried to get her to stay but if doesn't want to, you can't really force them.

She didn't turn up again afterward and her cousin said she passed away a few days later, still a little freaked by that.

If she wants to be hardegat, you be hardegat in return.

Before you actually dismiss her just inform her bluntly that if she doesn't start eating then she will be fired.

That's fair warning and if she doesn't comply...well so be it.

Consult with your local Department of Labour (not CCMA).

Check if there is a sectoral determination for the hospitality industry covering certain illnesses...

Nobody has a problem with an unethical doctor disclosing HIV status to an employer?

That doctor should get his license to practice taken away and banished to an Ebola clinic.
It is not his decision to tell the world of her status, can have serious complications.
Can only imagine the discrimination she must go through with people knowing about it

Nobody knows about it and I would definitely not discriminate. Pretend I do not know and just help her where I can like buying multivitamins for her monthly and supporting her when she needs it

Not saying you would tell anyone or discriminate :) I admire you helping her out
The question is how many other people would the doctor have told, not only from her case but others also.

Remind your doctor to publish your illnesses on facebook then please. Post the link here. Ask him/her to pay special preference to the illnesses that may lead to discrimination as I would like to forward those to your employer and work colleagues.

This. Everyone has a right to confidentiality, regardless of who they are. Unacceptable that a physician would behave in such a manner.
