Employee refusing to eat... any advice????

Why would i joke about it when i lost my dad to the big C?

Lost my father to that miserable disease also. Hard to gauge on a forum if people are being serious or taking the piss.

Have you got any independent medical evidence to prove this stuff works? Sorry for being a sceptic. Just natural I suppose as the first question that comes to mind is, why isn't this stuff being marketed widely as a cure?? Why aren't doctors recommending this stuff instead of Chemo?

So I have this employee who has a lot of medical issues. She has high blood pressure, has frequent blood clots in her legs and the sickness we do not speak of (doctor told me).

The past week she has refused to eat, even though she is constantly light headed, dizzy and feel nauseous from hunger! Why? Because she feels lonely apparently....

She is on waferin, ARV's and blood pressure meds.

Can anyone advise me what action to take? My business is very physical and I am scared that if she doee not listen to me she will die or collapse
I assume her doctor told you with her permission?

Edit: never mind, just read the rest of the thread

If I remember correctly it's simply because clinical trials have not proven it to be highly effective. If it works for you, great. I don't know much about the healing effects of cannabis (and I am certainly not going to argue it here), but I am involved day-to-day with the pharmaceutical industry and clinical trials and it is a highly regulated industry. One person here and another there claiming to be cured by cannabis does not mean it will be approved by the relevant authorities in countries/regions. You need cold, hard facts and numbers from a relatively large and representative population sample to claim that your drug/treatment has a positive therapeutic effect.

That is my point. If this stuff really and truly worked, wouldn't they be pushing this stuff through trials?? Then again, a Chris Rock comes to mind. They will never cure AIDS as there is no money in the cure. The money's in the medicine. They will simply help you to live with it. Funny, but the conspiracy theorist in me finds it hard to ignore as fact.

No that's not true. Whoever finds the cure for AIDS or cancer will make a killing in sales. There is constant and active research into these diseases and that's a fact. Even my girlfriend's thesis is on a drug delivery system to fight cancer cells, just as an example. The big pharma companies are investing even more time and money into fighting cancer.

They are doing trials on an ongoing basis. This page has some interesting info:

What will make more money? Cure? Or medicine that keeps you coming back forever for more to survive?

Even if the use of cannabinoids in clinical practice needs further preclinical research, in order to confirme safety, efficacy, doses and administration protocols, the cannabinoids could provide unquestionable advantages compared to current antitumoural therapies: (1) cannabinoids selectively affect tumour cells more than their nontransformed counterparts that might even be protected from cell death; (2) systematically administered selective inhibitors of endocannabinoid degradation would be effective only in those tissues where endocannabinoid levels are pathologically altered, without any significant psychotropic or immunosuppressive activity; (3) selective CB1 agonists unable to cross the blood–brain barrier would be deprived of the immunosuppressive and psychotropic effects of cannabinoids and therefore could be efficaciously used as antineoplastic drugs in a large number of tumours, with the exception of glioma; (4) cannabinoids could represent an efficacious therapy in COX-2-expressing tumours that have become resistant to induction of apoptosis: acting as COX-2-substrates with no effect on the protective properties of COX-2-derived products, they could offer some advantage with respect to the NSAID in order to enhance the sensibility to conventional anticancer therapies.

Even if further in vivo research are required to clarify cannabinoids action in cancer and especially to test their effectiveness in patients, the cannabinoid system represent a promising target for cancer treatment.

You seem pretty much convinced that it's a conspiracy. I assure you that there is active research into fighting cancer and these companies are driven by money, not love for humanity. Whoever discovers the cure will be sitting on a mountain of gold.

and a Nobel Prize.

I suppose I should add that I used to work for company that did independent drug testing for the pharmaceutical companies. And make no mistake. Its first and foremost about the money. Humanity and what-not is a distant second.

I'm not arguing that. But the pharma companies are definitely invested in cancer research because whoever gets there first will hit the jackpot.

and there you have it folks.

Suppose we have to agree to disagree on this. I do however sincerely hope I am wrong and you are right.

Humanity and what-not is a distant second.

This being said though, the way some pharma companies and the relevant authorities approached the ebola crisis was very different from the norm. There was not a lot of money to be made out of that, if any and they fast tracked a drug to help contain the crisis.

I have seen plenty of protocols and SAPs for clinical trials dealing with cancer research. Obviously I can't divulge more details than that.
