Try the succulent cotyledon orbiculata it's commonly known a "pigs ear" for warts it is a popular plant and can be picked up at most nurseries that have a good herb section.

I think that is over the top expensive. I have seen a couple of specialist's recently... OBGYN R700, Dermatologist R850, Neurologist R650, Peadeatrician R630 so unless he/she has multiple specialties I can't see how that pricing is justified. Maybe he/she is in huge demand or would rather have half the clients at a higher rate. I understand that the cost of insurance for OBGYN and Neurologists is at a premium because of the risks but even those cost's are reflected in the procedures and not consultation fees. How long do you have to wait for the appointment? That could provide a clue!

I didnt get as far as booking an appointment. I politely told the receptionist, no thank you.


Wait, so a neurologist is cheaper than an endocrinologist.

These doctors are greedy baskets. I have lost respect for them.

They should stop addressing "patients" by the names & rather call us : holiday home, German car, bond & university fees for bratty child.

If he/she has multiple specialties the rate would be justified like a Physician for example are highly qualified. I suspect in this case it could just be a matter of having the monopoly in the market place because it is a more rare speciality.

That being said if he/she can pinpoint your problem it could be worth it because you could spend way more on multiple GP visits and get nowhere.

But on the flip side GP'S get a referral fee if they send you to a specialist, sigh! This is where you need to have a excellent GP that knows you and that you can trust
If you don't this is a good place to start for this issue and your future health.

They study for over a decade. If they earned a little bit of money after studying for a decade, nobody would bother doing it.

The market is limited by available positions, not so much the difficulty - which is kind of unfair.
 
We see a peadiatric endo every 4 months for my daughter as she has growth hormone deficiency. Each appointment is currently R1050 and we generally pay an additional R200 twice a year for a motivation letter for the medical aid. That is maintenance appointments though, not initial consultation which is often a bit longer and costs more.

Medical bills are insane. I worked out that in the last 12 months my medical costs above and beyond what the medical aid paid for where about R90 000. So thank your lucky stars if you and all your dependants are healthy.
 
My daughter sees an endocrinologist, who is also a general physician, for her thyroid problem.
He has a 4 month waiting list and charges about R1500 per consultation (altho I don't pay cos he's a friend☺).

Could you explain what you mean by this? Are you implying that the numbers of surgeons practicing is artificially limited?

Well a bit of both. You need to finish your community service to be fully qualified, and you are right, there are only a limited number of community service positions available. But demand for those positions is not that much higher than supply as far as I know.

They don't have to but they sure do want to be millionaires. Even if it's at the expense of the sick and vulnerable.
