Engine cleaning...newer cars?

Any ideas on how to clean my 2008 Ford Ikon engine because Ford refuses to steam clean the engine...

Steam cleaning is bad. Far too many electronics and sensors in a modern engine... Water gets in where it shouldn't and you're in for an expensive repair.

That's interesting. I've had my 2010 Cerato's engine steam-cleaned twice after some dust-road weekends. No issues so far.

Steam is the term for boiling water, which at sea level is 100°C. I seriously doubt whether I would subject my vehicle's delicate electronics to those temperatures, as well as the moisture which is formed when the steam condenses!

I do not like lots of water in my engine bay, so I use clean green and a cloth. Too much electronics in the new cras

If you have a compressor and a paraffin gun get some Prepsol from your local parts shop, it works wonders. Spray the engine with the Prepsol and leave it a few minutes then rinse with water.

Just avoid the paint, prepsol does affect paint but not for short durations. One of those bottles with a nozzle and trigger work fine for spraying the engine, afterwards just rinse with a hose pipe.

Engines are meant to be dirty.

Remove the plastic engine cover (wiping that clean already does wonders), spray Kleen Green all over, leave for a bit, rinse off with water.

You could always buy yourself a nice broad paint brush and brush away the dust from the most troublesome areas. That's what I do.

Yeah, because engines are not naturally supposed to get hot.

And then you get the the following, radiator fins broken/bent out of shape when the operator pushed the high pressure hose in front of the radiator.

This is what I do - works like a charm. Don't do it when the engine's hot though.
