@ dom - of course an engineer must know everything...

...in terms of theoretical knowledge, but a good artisan will surpass any engineer in terms of practical knowledge - I know, been there, seen it happen :D

The only time legals get scared is when engineers are closing in..., because engineers talk more **** than they do, except that people actually believe engineers ;)

Very true, but since an engineers job is theoretical in nature people misconceive that. You pay a Pr.Eng R600 an hour to design X because he can tell you about thermodynamics, varations to Young's modulus or load division.
Then, you pay 20 x artisan or reasonable facsimile @ R10 an hour to build it because they can tell you about concrete pouring methods, et al.
Would you have them switching roles, 'cause I wouldn't? :)
