England vs USA

The guy was marked three ways from Sunday and still managed to exert more influence on the game than anyone else (bar Gerrard). How was he not the best player (from an attacking viewpoint)? I already said that Onyewu was the de-facto MoM, but don;t take anything away from Rooney's performance...

Rooney does not have most of the team feeding him the ball, comparing messi and rooney is a bit silly. Totally different players. Messi is by far the better player but damn rooney was about the best player on the pitch.

Rooney cannot dribble 3 players, he can influence a game but comparing them is very wrong. Funny how the english public turn on their team so quickly. One game against a good team and knives are out. Then they wonder why england always fail.

Why was crouch on the bench? Now nail the coach for such stupidity. Don't blame rooney for being in a team that does not work. If gerrard and lampard cannot play together man the F up and drop one of them.

Exactly! They are different types of players and play different roles within their respective teams.
 
I honestly see the failure at this game by England should squarely be placed on the lack of insight/fore sight.

They saw Rooney being boxed in but still stuck to their same game plan. Gerrard and Lampard (Both of which have insane shooting skills) should have seen this sooner and capitalized on it. Plenty of times the ball was crossed to Rooney and then just pushed out of the box towards midfield. I counted 3 Volleys which Lampard or Gerrard could have planted HARD!. Also they rush the box with the ball and play it out wide to get a cross in, all the Americans cram into the box around Rooney, should have faked a cross passed it back just outside the box for Gerrard or Lampard to take a shot.

Also, they (England) had issues on the wings for some reason. I have no idea why but they seemed to be out of place most of the game and strugling.

Fact is, England has a very good squad capable of beating any given team any given day. I just hope they start to play with more fore-sight and depth. They seem to be following their game plan blindly no matter what they stick to it, instead of addopting to what the other team is doing.
 
More competant wingers and Crouch starting up top with Rooney being used to run into the box and Lamps/Stevie G hanging back. Lemme just fax that to Capello! :p

Though I do agree with the Lampard bit - Gerrard should be moving about as he is more dangerous that wa, but Lamps would have gotten off a few good shots had he stayed back.
 
Drop either lampard and gerrard and bring in joe cole possibly.

It is fairly obvious gerrard and lampard do not mix and it is hurting england trying to keep both of their ego's intact. START WITH CROUCH YOU FOOL and drop heskey.

I thought lennon did very well and got a good few crosses in but nobody got on the end. Mostly because heskey is useless so you go in a player short :D.

Bollocks, Lennon was utter shyte. Cole instead of Lennon and Lamps waiting for a good shot on goal (as Pitbull is so fond of repeating;)).
 
I agree with what Gordon Ig. had to say... USA just played better. Enough that England couldn't impose themselves. I mean in all fairness they made the final of the Confed Cup (you don't get there by luck) so its clear they're getting better and better. Sure England should have won but that moist air in altitude was showing itself ;) .. they were just marked well by America, who should be pleased with the outcome.

Sometimes the best players don't perform as a team and I suspect England could suffer from this. Happened last WC. Compare that to Argentina :erm: top class players who work so well together and "attack" like no other. Makes me think Bafana Bafana played pretty well considering the South American teams are pretty darn attacking! That and they used to the altitude :)

Now.. let me go read what the British Press has to say about England's performance :p

I can just imagine the tabloid headlines tomorrow: Green Dropped! But remains in the sqaud. England players say they are firmly behind Green (from now on)...
 
Wanted England to win coz all the decorated with soccer ball and SA flag yamaka wearing people wanted USA to win lol !!!

Bad luck I guess, to many draws in the comp so far gonna be an interesting end to the group stages!
