EPL 2011 Summer Transfers

Is everyone at Merseyside gone to sleep since the capture of Henderson. all i hear is all these rumours of a list of players kenny is going to buy. is it a money issue now. utd have bought 3 players already. more then anyone in the top 6. just saw that Connor Wickem has gone to Sunderland. we need to be spending wisely in the market.

We don't need a very talented young English 4th striker  Wiser spending that kind of money on mediocre young Englishman in positions we don't need like central midfield where we have 7 players already

I think that maybe Kenny will buy a striker, not a young striker but one that can be ready to play immediately since Carol looks like a player who gets injured allot based on the amount of times he was out last season.

I thought it was just the one injury, wasn't it? Thigh?

It's said Pastore will most likely leave his respective club, 4 clubs are interested in him and the director said that he has 10% chance of remaining.

Well just an update on the Chelsea end... apparently Chelsea and City have distanced themselves from the Neymar rumors (though this is probably a red herring) and AVB stated quite categorically that he is not afraid to spend, that he can spend as much as he feels he needs to get the job done, but will not be making any movies in the market until he has had a look at his squad and played a game with them. Then he'll draw up a list and buy whoever he needs.

Probably a wise decision from buying the right people for the team, but don't you think its going to be a bit late to get the proper people and only going to get the leftovers. Totally understand wants to see what the team is lacking, but IMO pounce while its hot and not wait till its all gone

If you are working on a budget you want the best bang for your buck and try to spend wisely getting things started early. If you have an open cheque book you can buy whatever, whenever you want. (Torres for 50mil).

Yuto Nagatoma has been bought outright by Inter, he was on loan from cesena last and did a good job. Obviously is also important for the japanese market. Luca Caldirola and Luca Garritano were used in co-ownership for the deal but stay at inter.

Inter have also decided not to use our option on housine kharja, he was on loan from genoa. Good choice by the management, he is not good enough.

Rumour of Man City talking to Nasri (£20m) and Clichy (£7m). Don't know how true but truly hope not Nasri

Why? It's not like he can't buy anyne he wants. He has an open cheque book and if he wants someone, he will get that player. No rush.

If you wait till closer to deadline you will cheaper deals. The clubs following this policy most likely have agreements with their targets already in place and its just a game of getting an agreement with the other club. That's why we see such a rush in the final week of mercato always.

I understand that he has an open cheque, but from what I understand he does not know what he or who he wants. So when everybody has made there moves and settled with the new club, except for Fabregas. Then he wants to buy what is leftover. Like I said its a good idea, but for me its a gamble also. But I guess if you can fork out the cash, you purchase someone that a person would never of thought the team would sell.

I doubt he has NO idea who he wants to buy. I'm sure he's looked over Carlo's reports, talked to his staff (Steve Holland, now former reserves coach, and Di Matteo, who managed West Brom) and reviewed footage of the previous season. Getting the players together and testing them out to see if they will fit his view is all he wants to do. He probably has a large-ish shortlist that he will whittle down over the next few weeks and I wouldn't be surprised if Chelsea has already made contact with certain players to see if they are open to a move. All that's left is to agree a price with their clubs.

Chelsea made 2 signings in January, they ended the season strong. Unless they are buying for the sake of buying I don't think they need much.

Of all the young players names being thrown about, the only one thats really impressed me is Sturridge. Did well for Bolton, probably the best of all the top clubs loanies in the second part of the season. Saw him a bit in the U21 and he impressed me the most.

If he was an Arsenal player, I would be saying "his coming back from loan and will be like a new signing". :p

Problem is if Sturridge comes back his gonna sit bench behind Dogba and Torres again... got a feeling he may be going out for another loan

Brings me back to my point. How many players does Chelsea need to sign to be competative. They have the luxury to take there time. There is only a few clubs in there price market. Their only concern might be that City plans to have 5 world class players in every position and that might limit there options.

Inter are apparently very close to sealing deals for palacio of genoa and ricky alvarez of velez. The palacio deal is apparently a direct exchange with him and pandev. While alvarez they are talking of €12 million.
