Yes! Before some clever I.T. youngster tells me that Google is My friend, I have done all the various recommendations like DNS flushing etc....

But here is the interesting point.

I get the ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED in multiple browsers, chrome firefox on different Pc's on different Networks, home and work, sometimes the page will open, other times not giving the ERR_NAME messages.

I have heard from other folk in town that they too are experiencing this error.

On my ipad(ios) I obviously do not get the exact same message, but pages also fail .....

So I am thinking that the problem has to do with the local ISP, we only have one in town......NAMIBIA Telecom...

I need to find the local techie at Telecom and try to explain this to him....

you bright sparks have anything to add?

;)

Try change your DNS settings to use Googles DNS :

8.8.8.8 & 8.8.4.4

There is an issue with the DNS server you are using. Try changing your primary DNS server (in network settings - google it ) to 8.8.8.8

I hear what you guys are saying with DNS, I did try it yesterday , saw on GOOGLE how to, but then I lost my network connection all together.

Why is this happening on different networks on different pc's and browsers?

Surely the problem must be by the isp?

Well if all those devices are using the ISPs DNS servers and those servers are FUBAR then the issue will be experienced everywhere.

Yes, definitely the ISP.

Try using jsheed_sa's DNS. A bunch of us are using it to watch Netflix (well not me anymore, but anyway) - IP address is 154.127.60.71

going to try this in a moment, just a quick question, (Networking ain;t my forte' so bear with me)

I am at work right now.....

I am using a wireless network and the the router is connected directly to the net, but I ain't , will your suggestion still apply?

Yes, basically you are telling your router to override whatever DNS address your ISP uses.

Apply it to the router instead of your local machine, you can then check all devices connected to that same router
Not always possible. Huawei 'gateway' routers lack of this feature, in such case you have to setup your own DNS at your PC. Also it doesn't need to be DNS server problem at ISP. It could also be a router's firmware bug triggered on the poor connection or corrupted settings data. I such cases router restart (or even reset to defaults) helps.

And lastly, Google is your fiend (at least with DNS servers). :)
