I've been trying to install XP Media centre edition on this fairly old pc. Everything goes along fine but after it formats and copies the data to the hdd and then reboots to continue the instalation i get an error saying "Error loading operating system"

All i did on the pc before this was use Acronis to clone the hdd but Acronis froze close to the end of the cloning process and i had to restart the pc by pressing the button on the front of the case, when i put the hdds in another pc they were blank. So i formatted both of them using the *slow* format and i still get the same error during the instalation

specs of the pc are as follows

P4 3ghz
intel 865gbf mobo
768mb ram
160gb Samsung hdd

Any help would be appreciated

Definitely a hard drive issue. A format will wipe the hard drive clean (on a buggered partition). What you need to do is delete and recreate the partition, and then format it....

SATA or IDE?

Had a motherboard whose onboard SATA need to be enabled PLUS Winders had to be installed with the driver diskette with the F6 option during bootup before I could boot successfully from the hard drive.

Hard drives are SATA, now i get to the point where windows is installed except everytime i log on it says that some system restore file is corrupt and i must run the check disk utility, ran the utility like 3 times now and i still get the same error.

The error is there even after i did a fresh install AGAIN. Sigh

Thanks for all the help guys, turns out my media centre disk is fscked, xp pro installed without any problems :)
