He said that inception of Infraco, using the long-distance assets deployed by Eskom and Transnet, is a direct intervention to rapidly reduce key cost of broadband from early 2007.

The net expectation from this is Infraco being able to reduce long-distance pricing to significantly lower levels compared to Telkom, within five years.

How about doing that now.

Once government is satisfied that long-distance tariffs have normalised at internationally competitive levels in support of broadband, it is government's intention to exit by means of privatisation.

Hmmm...yeah.

Been said many times before:( - however it is still good news if it results in cheaper broadband:)

alec erwin is not in touch with reality. the bolt and the sabotage rubbish and the subsequent denial thereof is ample evidence that he is not completely mentally able.

significantly lower levels compared to Telkom, within five years.

These guys are living with their heads in the sand. 5 Years in NET terms is the equal to 25 years in normal business years!!

All they are doing is buying time for Telkom and now Neotel. It is a f..cking shame that there is no sense of priority for this.

All this dark fibre that Eskom/Transtel laid down, is rotting away. Let some entrepreneurs get hold of this, at low costs, and then you will see the potential.

Alec Erwin: please take a flying leap off a bridge, it will do us all so much better.

Found that bolt yet? Maybe next election?

Hey maybe we'll be lucky consider that:

  • Portia Molefe from Public Enterprises scored a B- in the MG rating compared with Lyndall Shope-Mafole E score.
I'll at least give Alec a chance to prove himself. Anything has to be better than Ivy & Lyndall.

Unfortunately for us LLU and ECA is still Ivy's game. Alec & Portia will soon realise that to keep their promises (i.e. reducing costs) they need actions in this space.

Hopefully once they realise how useless the Doc is, he can make use of "successful" ANC "quiet diplomacy" to encourage Ivy's retirement (old girl is tired and needs a rest).

So what we all want to know is....
WHY CAN ALEC IRWIN PROMISE CHEAPER BROADBAND???
I THOUGHT TELKOM WAS A PRIVATE COMPANY REGULATED BY ICASA LIKE EVERY OTHER UNFORTUNATE COMMUNICATIONS FIRM... :D
