Eskom arguing for higher fixed capacity charges

Legitimized theft. Eskom is attempting to make their problem ours and convince us it's the sensible and right thing to do. We did not tell them to split their functions. "The utility argued for higher fixed capacity charges to make its tariffs more cost-reflective, given its three main operating divisions — generation, transmission, and distribution — will be unbundled." Idiocy
 
I use around 350 units a month, I also don't have solar. So this will basically push up the price I have to pay. The middle class will suffer the most with this brainless plan of theirs.

If you are Eskom it isn't really brainless, just an opportunity to keep the ANC aligned gravy boat full, without even having to supply the power. Straight tariff increases have probably gone as far as they can as anything more will further promote self generation or industries simply closing up. Their answer is a fixed charge, regardless of consumption, even if, in the longer term, it has the same negative affect on Eskom as tariff increases. As I understand it, the demand for power from Eskom continues to decline.
 
Guess we will all just treat Eskom like the E-Tolls?

See, in the end, when you keep f*cking with the basic necessities of life, people end up gatvol and will do what they need to survive.
