Eskom avoiding total electricity black-out

They are talking ****! Eskom top management and their families must be executed in public! I hope, if there is a single person who loses a family member due to load shedding, that they would have the guts to kill these people.

Holding thumbs...seeing how easily the Bangladesh grid collapse the other day it seems rather plausible...

I just hope Eskom aggressively cuts people off...a cascading grid blackout would be a nation disaster...

Still - their decision to load shed on a Sunday to save coal for Monday makes me optimistic...someone in charge doing their best to think strategically.

Eskom gets blamed unfairly for this mess imo - its the highest level decision makers that screwed us over...Eskom wanted to build plants long ago but were denied by political forces...

Power out in east London, looks like early to bed tonight.

Thanks. Much appreciated.
Not.

Most other countries use the term "rolling blackout", so why the hell must we create a name for it? Political correctness in its extreme form.
I'd prefer calling a spade a spade too...but I suspect in this case there is a marginal SA-image benefit

Yeah, shining examples of cANCer supporters. Don't want to take responsibility, even if it means paying the highest price for the mess they caused.

I've said it many times on MyBB, Eskom is (still) a brilliant organisation, with many thousands of capable and dedicated professionals and high-calibre people.

The blame lies with the government and the ruling party, who've tainted the top levels of the organisation with cadre deployments. But most Eskom people are fantastic and they deserve our support.

Load shedding for me is 4 times a week from 6 to 10 pm. I post this in the dark.

Agreed - and the same goes for many parastatals/government-owned organisations. Plenty of very knowledgeable, hard-working, genuine folks to be found there.

Same schedule here. I can't comprehend the utter lack of higher brain function needed to devise such a schedule - how the rubbery **** do you dump the same people into darkness, for 4 days out of 7, around family and dinner time?! I realise there's a bit of a crisis, and a little suffering is inevitable, but have you seen CT's schedules? 3 days per week, once in the morning, once in the afternoon and once in the evening, on a rotational basis. That, if necessary, I could live with...

Luckily tonight, it seems, the fools are too incompetent to follow their own roster. I'm meant to be shedded; I'm happy to say I'm not.

The Cape Town schedule is quite acceptable. Logical. City of Joburg on the other hand, are brainless and illogical. Swines!
