Eskom collapse getting worse

Absolutely. I'm well into my 40s, I'm able bodied so I do what I must. I'd rather restart now than later in life. As long as I live somewhere with a reliable power supply, I can restart

You drown in paperwork, financial planning and bureaucracy but it's easier than you would think.

I am doing exactly this but am just just in my 40s. Rather now than later to reestablish that side.

Sold my car yesterday to webuycars. The salesmen said he gets on average 2 to 3 people a week selling their cars due to emigration.

Yeah I'm also just in my 40s and it's starting to look like a major pan.

You hit the nail on the head, it does seem like a daunting task but it can be done. It's just alot of back and forth with paper work and getting stuff in order.

I also think people underestimate how much people with skills and experience are indemand abroad,but they brush it off because leaving is difficult. That's life, nothing is really easy.

The "difficulty" of emigration is a non-factor if the reward is taken into account: Getting out of ANC land.

Agreed, but in SA it pays to be a pessimist.

Energy is life, and unless you provide for yourself things are going to get worse, winter will be very interesting this year.

Do any of you more technical/IT gents know if major ISPs here have large diesel generators etc to run during load shedding?

Working from home is kinda redundant when your ISP can't provide a service if diesel runs short

Even if they have diesel at the DCs, what's going to happen with the network equipment out in the field that provides the last mile?
 
Damn, I'm on stage 6 from 04:00 until :0500, then I'll have power for an hour until 06:00 and off again on stage 3 until 08:30. Then stage 3 from 14:00 - 16:30 then off again on stage 6 from 22:00 - 0:30.

No wonder my appliances don't last. I've already lost a fridge and and microwave.

DC's I have been to are well sorted. Most have IoT monitoring on diesel level, consumption and quality of power produced.

Last mile i.e. PoPs are the issue. We are lucky so far, our last mile seems to last around 6 hours before we are dead in the water.

Now if it was proper stage 6, not the CoCT you'd have the following
4am till 8.30am, then probably 2 to 6pm and the break at 10pm to midnight.
 
I just realised I wont have power from 6pm to 10pm tonight, what the **** is this - I feel so demoralized

How the **** am I going to check my weekly vault on WoW now

I don't know which I prefer. The problem with a bunch of short slots means that the batteries of my UPS's don't charge fully and then I may as well have no power.

My poison is the mosquitoes, I absolutely have to have my fan in the bedroom on during the night. It's plugged into a UPS. With these bunches of short slots the UPS starts beeping like an hour in (which in turn wakes me up) another ten minutes or so later it switches off completely. I'm thinking of replacing all these SLA batteries with LiFePo4, but nobody has stock. Those who do are charging ridiculous prices.

I use to run usb fan from powerbank, worked well for keeping cool and mosquites

We need to wait until the 1st April. Andre only leaves on the 31st March and that's why we're still having rolling blackouts according to some people. :)
