This is absolutely ridiculous, how are we expected to pay for their mess when have more than enough problems to deal with..City of Tshwane has shown they if they need to recover what they are owed.

Just think, instead of changing the name of the city to Shitty of Tshwany, (which I am sure is waaaay more important than stable power supply )- they could have used that cash to service Eskoms debt.

Got nothing to do with name change, Eskom must take responsibility of their own problems and stop asking for bail outs and increasing prices unjustifiably, they collect from those who owe them like Tshwane is doing

Yes it would be nice if they can pay for their own mess, but they don't have the money.

So what now?

My solution was to vote with my wallet and produce my own electricity.

The best news is yet to come. Let's say by some magical event the ANC is out, whoever takes over will still have to deal with this for at least a decade.

Makes me all warm and fuzzy inside thinking about it.

That really good for you, I wish I had that option, but my question how are they losing so much money and do they not get it back

Of course it will be a continuous problem, but really something needs to be done, i suspect there are some big cooperations that are free riding electricity here

Eskom was and is a great source of income for many comrades. Running it effectively is not their priority, enriching themselves is.

Any case, whining about it is not going to help. Best is to make yourself less dependent on Eskom.

1. The entire world is facing an energy crisis.
2. SA also has a political crisis.

Double whammy.

This is by far the biggest issue. Debt has interest that needs to be paid and they have this debt due to corruption and BEE.

Over staffed and not being able to let people go. The list goes on.
